Lodge a missing creature alert with your Member of Parliament

Missing_Creature_Report__600px_web.jpg

Palm cockatoos are pretty incredible birds.

To woo lady palm cockatoos, males make drumsticks from branches and seed pods and beat their own rhythms while whooping and flapping their wings. Their rosy cheeks glow vibrant red when they’re excited.

But bulldozers are making them vulnerable to extinction. This cannot go on.

Will you lodge a missing creature alert with your local Member of Parliament? Tell them we need strong national environment laws to protect the places and wildlife we love – and ask them to raise this with their party leader.

Fill out the webform with your name and why you care. We'll print your name and message on a special missing creature alert and post it to your local MP. If you prefer, you can print and post it yourself.

As Australians we need to protect our native flora and fauna. Once it’s gone it’s gone forever. Future generations will see us as greedy, ignorant and stupid.

Please, for a change, look after the only home we have now – later is too late.

The wildlife in Australia is just as important as you and I are. Pls stop the distruction of their habitats

I really care about every one of these birds and animals that are becoming extinct because years ago when I was younger I travelled and was able to see them in their natural habitats. I found that an incredibly moving and beautiful experience and it has never been lost to me over the years. It has always been in my memory so that I could rest my mind in the Wonder and joy of it whenever I wanted to and I loved that. It added my quality of life even though now I am older and crippled following a stroke and probably can never travel to those places again and see those wonderfulbirds and animals

we need strong national environment laws to protect the places and wildlife we love. Give our environment and fauna a thought. Pay attention to our world and don’t put profit first.

Too many creatures on our earth are losing their habitat and where do they go? They become endangered and disappear. It’s our responsibility to take care of our environment. I’m very concerned for the future generations and the mess we are leaving them because of decisions made by politicians for political benefits, instead of making decisions for long term future benefits of Australians and the environment. Please step up

Too many creatures are endangered. They need somewhere to live too.
They are so beautiful. How horrible would it be for them to become extinct? This wonderful land would be such a sad place without the palm cockatoo.

ALERT – missing Palm cockatoos in their tree homes in Cape York and the Cape York Peninsula, QLD.
Have you seen them? Only 3000 left in Australia.
Teresa 2018-06-05 19:17:19 +1000
These cockatoos are beautiful and deserve to be protected. They are so rare that people from overseas probably don’t even know that cockatoos aren’t all white. If you see one around it’s considered lucky, and that should not be the case. They deserve to be recognised and their endangered status should be taken seriously. I expect to see action on their behalf, because they can’t do it themselves.

It’s too late to care once these beautiful unique animals are extinct … do you want to look back and remember you could have made a difference but didn’t …

The loss of Australia’s native wildlife is our fault. Apathy, economics and the lack of will to save our special creatures is appalling. I urge you to stand for the environment and save our wildlife.

The diversity of living species is critical to our survival
Jenni 2018-06-05 19:15:26 +1000
Life is so wholly unique to our planet, from every leaf, and every small rabbit to every different race of human. Each and every one of us who breathe have a unique set of characteristics that make us special and I can’t think of anything more important than protecting what our planet has made and cherish it and watch as it blooms before us. I believe everyday we should celebrate earth day and protecting those lonely species who no longer know how to survive is a noble cause that I support whole heartedly.

I have observed the Palm Cockatoos and find their intelligence amazing. They are parts of our echo-system and in some ways we benefit from them. We should be thankful for their work and their company.
Dominique 2018-06-05 19:14:27 +1000
These Cockatoos are being threatened , and I care about their environment as they need trees to nest in and bushes for food.

It is in your power to protect all our native animals. These animals can only be found in Australia. How would it look to the rest of the world if we as a nation can’t keep our native animals alive?
Thank you

We must stop this wholesale tree and habitat clearing, because once these birds are gone there is no way back
Robert 2018-06-05 19:09:21 +1000
These Palm Cockatoos are pretty amazing and just like many other creatures they need established habitat – tree hollows to be specific – that we are pulling down. We need to maintain and look after the environment and not bulldoze forests down.
tabitha 2018-06-05 19:06:14 +1000
As my elected representative to the Australian Parliament I insist that you represent the environment which sustains our way of life and that of our native species who depend on it to underpin their existence. That includes the forests and the biosphere which support all living creatures.
Most threatened Australian species have been here since before Homo sapiens left Africa. They have prior claim. We must do all we can to protect them against our blistering occupation of this magnificent Island continent.
Rosemary 2018-06-05 19:05:18 +1000
I should not have to tell you why I care about this or any other creature. It should go without saying that all creatures are precious and it is beyond my comprehension that humans have caused so much death and destruction on this planet. PLEASE act now and do what ever is in your power to stop the extinction of yet another beautiful animal. This is what power should be for, to protect those who cannot protect themselves.
