Palm cockatoos are pretty incredible birds.
To woo lady palm cockatoos, males make drumsticks from branches and seed pods and beat their own rhythms while whooping and flapping their wings. Their rosy cheeks glow vibrant red when they’re excited.
But bulldozers are making them vulnerable to extinction. This cannot go on.

Once animals are extinct, they’re gone forever. You need to prevent this happening.
Some years ago I did an art exhibition in Sydney ’ Preserved on Paper’
This would be considered to be the worst outcome! One of the creatures I painted /drawing was the Palm Cockatoo. I am writing to ask you to do your best to prevent this from being a reality.
We need strong environmental laws that will help protect wildlife such as this palm cockatoo. We need laws that will stop companies destroying their habitat. Laws that will compel decision makers to make decisions that help, not harm, our living world. Laws that will give these creatures a voice.
We are so lucky to have such unique wildlife in Australia. Unfortunately due to lack of strong environmental laws so many of them are already extinct and so may are heading that way. Why do we allow the destruction of their homes? Why do allow this mass clearing of the forests and woodlands? This is their home, and a place that as humans can go and enjoy the peace and beauty of nature. Please do all you can to stop land clearing.
These animals should not need reasons to be protected, it is a living creature just like us humans, the only difference is it did destroy everything like the humans are trying to achieve.
What would you do if your pet or even human family member what in this situation?
As we live in a very dry fragile environment, where the species of animals as unique due to the separation from the rest of the world out environment laws should be very strict and clear.
I am 17 years of age, and I plan to travel and see the world when I graduate high school. I fear that we are losing our environment at such a rapid rate that I will not be able to experience our native flora and fauna when I travel around Australia.
This is absolutely devastating, and it is up to the people of Australia to voice a need for change but it is up to our government to listen. Please, on behalf of the young people who are yet to see the beauty our country has to offer, hear us now before it is too late.
Dear Sir
Please ensure effective legislation is enacted to protect palm cockatoo habitat to ensure it’s survival.
Yours Sincerely
Gary Stipanov
In this stressful time of climate change, we need to preserve our forests for our own survival as well as the survival of our unique Australian species.
Please strenghten the laws protecting our natural environment.
We need stronger environmental protection laws so that vulnerable animals’ habitat is protected. This way future generations will be able to see these animals in the wild, not just in captive breeding programmes in zoos or in books and videos.
We need to act now to stop environmental degradation and further species extinction!
We need much stronger environmental laws because all species contribute to a healthy environment, the loss of one creature leads to the loss of more! We are contributing to our own demise!
Mankind, and industry specifically, has had its way with the environment for too long now. So much has been lost. Yet the might dollar still dictates how so many view the world.
Dear member of parliament,
We need stronger consevation laws in Australia to protect our beautiful and unique flora and fauna. We are losing so much at an alarming rate, on this continent.
Please protect our wildlife.
all living creatures deserve a safe, clean place to live
Mp there is a great need for stronger environmental laws to be implemented so that the destruction of habitats is not aloud… humans need to live along side animals not think they have a right to take and rape the land at there pleasures
We need to look after our environment and all who share it. Our wildlife is unique and it would be criminal to allow it to become extinct. They have no voice in parliament, so it is up to our elected members to fight for them
This is our responsibility.
Australia’s tourism industry depends on our natural resources. We need to protect our biodiversity to maintain our economy and to ensure a safe future for our grandchildren and their grandchildren.
We need an environment minister who works to protect threatened species such as these cockatoos that keep our forests alive.
How would you like to look to our sky’s and see no more of our native cockatoos or parrots? We need them in our ecosystems and you can act now! So just do it, make the difference in a positive way, as you didn’t just become a politician for the money did you?!
