In the next few weeks, the Turnbull government could hand over $1 billion of public money to prop up Adani’s giant polluting megamine.

ACF supporter Sharon France thinks this is an outrageous use of public money, so she's come up with the Australian People's Bank of Better Ideas.

Sharon recalls, "I literally woke up one morning thinking, 'If everyone could spend $1 billion on something beneficial, what would they fund? Certainly not a loan to a billionaire for a coal mine.'"

We’re helping Sharon gather ideas for better ways to use $1 billion of public money.

When all your ideas are in, Sharon will send a report highlighting the most popular and creative suggestions to our Prime Minister.

Australians don't want their public money used to prop up Adani's giant coalmine. Our elected representatives have the choice to invest in public good, not private greed.

So what are your ideas for better ways to use $1 billion of public funds?

To get more involved in Sharon's creative action, download the Better Ideas for a Billion Dollars action pack or visit her blog post to learn more.

Buying up 1 billion dollars worth of beautiful, threatened parts of Australia for ecotourism and indigenous dwelling. Putting straight into solar power energy supply – roofing all government buildings with solar tiles.
Fulfilling Gonski initial aims.
Providing all state schools with green outdoor areas and school halls for events.
Converting disadvantaged schools to education hubs for all the local community to use and where children were cared for bey larger community – teachers still paid but teaching wider age ranges including adults.
Setting up free fun things for families everywhere that everyone can use for free – eg. rowboats and canoes at city lakes and rivers etc. Attendants paid to oversee.

1 billion would have assisted housing and medicatition for our service personal, would assist our farmers to retain there properties, would assist and maintain our rainforests and national parks and help relocate(if needed)our Koalas and australian wildlife, would assist our drug addicted babies plus our Barrier reef
So much could be done to help this country with a billion dollars and not destroy our reef, countryside, water ways, artesian basin, trees to help us breath clean air
Adani is not to be trusted and Australians should not have to go with out and help them ruin this country

Take your pick…
Hospitals, Schools, Tafe, building housing for the homeless, low income families, renewable energy projects, support for our farmers and dairy farmers, look after our pensioners etc, etc……NOT handing over to something that will contribute to destroying out environment, The Great Barrier Reef and add to the worlds polution which is having dire effects on our planet 😡

The money would be far better spent on developing an Australian owned renewable energy industry, there really are so many ways, solar, wind, wave, geothermal, hydro, Etc will all lead us into a sustainable cleaner future, this can no longer be denied and it is economically viable to create our own wealth here in this country without the vulnerabilities that come with every utility and all our resources being owned by foreign companies.

Invest in renewable energy like wave power as being trialled and successful in WA armed forces base. Invest in our children’s education for solutions education. Invest in aged care communities like Sweden that promotes wholistic care and help unemployed youth train in good care not profit motivated aged care farming of our elderly. No more new mines concentrate on the ones currently in operation or have been closed in CQ.

So many options! With the amount of money pulled out of Landacre & our National Parks over the past 20 years I think they are long overdue some funding. Added to that we have 100’s of young people trained up under Tony Abbott’s Green Army scheme (which has also been scrapped) ready to get to work. The eradication of pest species on public land which could be achieved with this type of funding having the consequence of supporting the habitat of many of our endangered and vulnerable species is just mind bogglingly exciting.
