In the next few weeks, the Turnbull government could hand over $1 billion of public money to prop up Adani’s giant polluting megamine.

ACF supporter Sharon France thinks this is an outrageous use of public money, so she's come up with the Australian People's Bank of Better Ideas.

Sharon recalls, "I literally woke up one morning thinking, 'If everyone could spend $1 billion on something beneficial, what would they fund? Certainly not a loan to a billionaire for a coal mine.'"

We’re helping Sharon gather ideas for better ways to use $1 billion of public money.

When all your ideas are in, Sharon will send a report highlighting the most popular and creative suggestions to our Prime Minister.

Australians don't want their public money used to prop up Adani's giant coalmine. Our elected representatives have the choice to invest in public good, not private greed.

So what are your ideas for better ways to use $1 billion of public funds?

To get more involved in Sharon's creative action, download the Better Ideas for a Billion Dollars action pack or visit her blog post to learn more.

Pauline Hollywood, I think it would be wonderful to have a fund to assist people with rare diseases who, until their life-saving medications are listed on the PBS, cannot access the medications due to their very high costs. Many people have died because they simply couldn’t afford it.

Using this money to back Adani when there is so much homelessness in Australia., is utterly disgraceful. How much more respect would you receive if you put it into building homes for the poor.

Instead of handing it to a rich foriegner why not Keep Australian Education FREE!?
The future of Australia is in the hands of these young people trying to get a good education, This is the area that will pay back the best dividends for investment.

The money would be better spent in the following ways …
Lowering the age of the aged pension to 60
Allowing pensioners to travel as they did prior to Abbot govt.
Build rail infrastructure linking the east coast by fast train.
Develop solar power and phase out coal.
Better funding to child care
And many more ways.

$1 billion could go some small way to repatriating the sites already depleted by mining companies – and abandoned when the profit wasn’t enough.. The job creation generated from these projects in regional Australia would surely win votes!
