In 2022 we made significant progress towards protecting our incredible places, wildlife and communities. All because we keep raising our voices together.

To everyone in our community: thank you for being part of this people-powered movement and for everything you do to speak up for nature.

I’m constantly inspired by the power, creativity and impact of our community. And I know we’re on the path to creating a more just and thriving world for every living thing.

Here’s a quick video recapping just some of what we achieved together in 2022.

In late December I returned to Australia after an action-packed trip to Montreal for the United Nations Biodiversity Conference (COP15), where close to 200 countries struck a deal to “halt and reverse biodiversity loss” under a new Global Biodiversity Framework.

It's now up to countries like Australia to put the deal into action – including creating new laws that actually protect nature and an independent regulator to enforce them.

For an overview of the new Global Biodiversity Framework and where Australia needs to go next to protect and restore nature, watch this COP15 wrap video with Nature Campaigner Nathaniel Pelle and me.

I look forward to working together more in 2023 and beyond to keep building a world where our places, wildlife and communities thrive.
