Lodge a missing creature alert with your Member of Parliament

Missing_Creature_Report__600px_StripedLeglessLizard.jpg

Nowadays, these sleek little critters are legless – but they weren’t always. Through evolution, their front legs disappeared completely and their back legs ended up just small scaly protrusions. But they can still jump 30 centimetres into the air!

But Legless Lizards can’t outrun the destruction of their habitat.

Will you lodge a missing creature alert with your local Member of Parliament? Tell them we need strong national environment laws to protect the places and wildlife we love – and ask them to raise this with their party leader.

Fill out the webform with your name and why you care. We'll print your name and message on a special missing creature alert and post it to your local MP. If you prefer, you can print and post it yourself.

While some would not find the striped legless lizard ‘attractive’ it is still an important part of the ecology in its habitat. We cannot afford to lose this creature.

Please do all you can to preserve the striped legless lizard’s habitat.

Thank you.

I am hear to speak up for every creature who needs help from human beings who are taking over their world. Every living creature, big or small should be important to us all. We need strong national environment laws to protect the places and wildlife we love.

Australia is an incredible island; its separation from the rest of the world has allowed it to maintain its biodiversity and uniqueness. That was until the beginning of modern Australian in 1788. I am a descendant of this invasion and I don’t want my legacy to be the loss of habitat and species in the place I call home and love dearly. Can you please fight on my behalf, for legislation to protect our unique habitats that will see our wildlife continue into the future?

Gwenyth Broug as a teacher I am aware that the Australian Education National Curriculum teaches sustainability and the web of life. Students are given the impression that governments actually care and are protecting the environment. Tragic that they are being misled while governments do minimal to stop the loss of of ecosytems, the diversity of life in fact the sustainability of life .

Biodiversity is vital to the health of the planet and our own health and wellbeing. Losing beautiful Australian fauna to extinction is a tragedy that can and should be prevented.

Australia has one of the world’s worst records for flora and fauna extinction, and the problem is growing. The Striped Legless Lizard (Delma impar) is just one of thousands of species that is identified as vulnerable and threatened.

Please add your voice and support to protecting our flora and fauna for the sake of the species that need it for survival and for future generations.

Dear Minister.

Australian wildlife and wilderness are under as much pressure now as ever before. Government after Government have failed to protect our great unique environment. Government failures are the reason we are where we are because ‘YOU’ are the law makers. No one else can make laws to defend wilderness and wildlife. Politicians have to take responsibility for this and do what is right. How many more years will we have this story? Not too many or to many? Depending on which one there will be or there wont be some of these creatures. What are you going to do?

Regards.

Mal Hull.

Once again it is habitat loss.
It will be such an impoverished world when there is only humans & the animals they farm to eat.
We were given so much more . . .

When I came to live on the western basalt plains 30 years ago there were legless lizards to be found in the rocky landscape.
Now, I haven’t seen one for years as housing developments march across the plains. We need to leave wild space to avert extinction.

Please help protect the precious habitats of our wonderful & diverse Flora & Fauna. At the moment, so many of our Native Birds & Animals are under threat. The bush I grew up around is now all gone & the Forests that are left must be protected. You make decisions on behalf of the Community & the majority of Australians want our Heritage protected, Please do all you can to ensure we have our wonderful Birds & Animals, so many of them depend on you.

Sincerely

G & J Reid
