Lodge a missing creature alert with your Member of Parliament

Missing_Creature_Report__600px_StripedLeglessLizard.jpg

Nowadays, these sleek little critters are legless – but they weren’t always. Through evolution, their front legs disappeared completely and their back legs ended up just small scaly protrusions. But they can still jump 30 centimetres into the air!

But Legless Lizards can’t outrun the destruction of their habitat.

Will you lodge a missing creature alert with your local Member of Parliament? Tell them we need strong national environment laws to protect the places and wildlife we love – and ask them to raise this with their party leader.

Fill out the webform with your name and why you care. We'll print your name and message on a special missing creature alert and post it to your local MP. If you prefer, you can print and post it yourself.

These native animals of ours
Are unique, and are onlyin our part of the world. I would like to see them remain in their habitat unharmed. Not made extinct by marauding loggers and miners, who don’t care about our beautiful environment.

All animals are essential to our ecosystem, if some die it could have a donimo effect killing many other animals who no longer have their primary food source, and then another animal who’s food source was that animal, and the domino affect continues.

Even our very existence may depend on the preservation of these animals as we are apart of the ecosystem ourselves, for example if the bee goes extinct it could mean the end of the human race, and who knows what animals it’s survival depends on, the ecosystem is a complex thing.

I’d rather preserve something that is beautuful and unrenewable than allow people to fill their pockets with money, more money than they need to sustain themselves. If someone is getting rich at the expense of destroying unrenewable ecosystems, that is indicative of a lack of empathy.

To the Honourable Minister
of Parliament,
I am writing about the:
Striped legless lizard.
I urge you too stop logging.
As creatures like this become extinct.
This is their habitat.
Please reverse your decision.
Yours sincerely.

All animals need to be protected! Our greed does not trump the welfare/existence of all the other animals in the animal kingdom!

What will it take for something to change? So much of our pristine natural environment is already lost. We need to care for the small pockets of habitat that are left and do everything we can to protect our wildlife. If you have a voice in parliment please use it for good and protect the incredible creatures that call Australia home. If nothing is done then the Striped Legless Lizard will be another animal to hit the extinct list. There is nothing in the world that can make another one. Once they are gone, they are gone forever. I hope these messages are being listened to and action will follow.

Our Australian wildlife is amazing and we cannot risk ever losing one species of it.

This isn’t just our earth, it belongs to the animals as well. We need to protect them.

The Legless Lizard is a uniquely Australian lizard. Lack of investment in urban infrastructure to allow development in the right places and lack of control over urban development is threatening their habitat. I’ve watched decades of development and loss of space allocated for the survival of the Legless Lizard unfold unabated. Please ensure the Federal legislation protects our endangered flora and fauna when States fail to adequately do so.

I care about the accelerating loss of vegetation across Australia, including native grasslands that the striped legless lizard inhabits. From weak conservation laws to excessive development, our biodiversity is in major peril from these causes of habitat loss. Once it is gone, it’s gone. So, what are you going to do about it? do you even care?

One piece of puzzle that is the world we live in. We lose thepiece and the picture will never be complete.

All creatures have the right to exist & all occupy their own special niche. They are each an important part of the whole. They are also delightful & amazing creations. Please protect their habitat.
