Lodge a missing creature alert with your Member of Parliament

Missing_Creature_Report__600px_StripedLeglessLizard.jpg

Nowadays, these sleek little critters are legless – but they weren’t always. Through evolution, their front legs disappeared completely and their back legs ended up just small scaly protrusions. But they can still jump 30 centimetres into the air!

But Legless Lizards can’t outrun the destruction of their habitat.

Will you lodge a missing creature alert with your local Member of Parliament? Tell them we need strong national environment laws to protect the places and wildlife we love – and ask them to raise this with their party leader.

Fill out the webform with your name and why you care. We'll print your name and message on a special missing creature alert and post it to your local MP. If you prefer, you can print and post it yourself.

We need stronger environmental laws. We say ‘save the planet’. Mate if we destroy the planet it will have an ice age and return to normal, it’s us who will die.
When the consciousness of humanity is unable to understand how to look after itself and interact with an environment other than itself, it’s like a societal suicide. We need stronger laws

It’s scary how we are losing so many precious creatures to extinction.
Stronger laws are vital.

Because humans need to be stopped thinking that they have the right to take and distory what and whenever they want

We need to look after our environment and all who share it. Our wildlife is unique and it would be criminal to allow it to become extinct. They have no voice in parliament, so it is up to our elected members to fight for them

This is our responsibility.

Only 1% of native grassland habitat remaining, we need to create more for our native species. Strict environmental controls are urgently needed. Immediate action is necessary to protect our grasslands, woodlands, forests and oceans.

We need stronger environmental laws so that our kids have a safe world to live in. Every action has an environmental consequence. Every species has their niche. We live in a time of unprecedented extinctions. We don’t fully understand the consequences. We must act now to reduce the damage.

We need stronger national environment laws in place to protect the creatures that we share our home with. It is our responsibility to protect all life on this earth. Strong laws are the only way to ensure that greed will not triumph over biodiversity.

We need to safeguard Australian flora and fauna from extinction. That includes Canberra’s own legless lizard. I’m now a pesco-vegetarian, partly for health reasons and partly for the sake of our planet and it’s flora and fauna. It’s no trouble at all to give up meat if it means we have plenty of land for housing as well as our flora and fauna. But better legislation to protect Australian flora, fauna and unique landscapes would help too

It’s time for strong protection laws to preserve what is left of Australia’s biota. The old “if moves shoot it and if doesn’t chop it down” notion has no place in any modern society.

You have a responsibility to all generations, not just this one
Theodore 2018-06-10 12:26:41 +1000
The NSW government of which you are a major part has an absolutely appalling record on conservation issues. Even when you try to ‘do the right thing’ it is exposed as mere window dressing and public a relations sham.
You might only understand ‘jobs and growth’ but when you destroy nature, you undermine the whole structure of modern society.
Who speaks for future generations and silent animals like the Striped Legless Lizard? Not you, that’s for sure.
You seem like a decent human being, please show some leadership against the ‘if it moves, shoot it, if it doesn’t chop it down’ brigade which seem to be the loudest voice in your party.
Thank you, Tim Scrace.

We need stronger environment laws to protect Australian native species. They support the health and essential growth of our environment whilst helping to combat human destruction. They bring joy to people. Whilst we become overpopulated and YOU continue to squeeze people into tiny areas you are destroying the habitat of our native species. Australia’s records are apalling and need to be changed.
