Lodge a missing creature alert with your Member of Parliament

Missing_Creature_Report__600px_SouthernBlueWhale.jpg

Southern blue whales are truly enormous. Their hearts are the size of a small car and their heartbeats can be detected 3 kilometres away. They sing to each other in our vast oceans, where their whale songs are like low rippling earthquakes.

But they’re threatened by chemical and sound pollution, habitat loss, fishing, and climate change.

Will you lodge a missing creature alert with your local Member of Parliament? Tell them we need strong national environment laws to protect the places and wildlife we love – and ask them to raise this with their party leader.

Fill out the webform with your name and why you care. We'll print your name and message on a special missing creature alert and post it to your local MP. If you prefer, you can print and post it yourself.

We need to protect these magnificent creatures before it’s too late. We need much stronger environmental laws to protect their habitat also.
Please we need to be talking about this now not later…

We need to protect the environment and wildlife – I don’t want us as a species to be so selfish that we wipe everything else out. We have the ability to go beyond an automatically selfish response.

The continent of Australia is unqiue and fragile, and the many of the species of animals cannot be found anywhere else in the world. This places a great importance on Australia to take seriously the responsibility to keep these species alive.

Like many Australians I have never been lucky enough to see a Southern Blue Whale in anything other than a film or as an image in a book, magazine or other medium. Wouldn’t it be fantastic if our grandchildren knew there were southern blue whales in the oceans around Australia that they could have the opportunity to see and be amazed by?

Dear MP, There are many reasons why we should protect the Southern Blue Whales. Here are a few:
1. They are endangered but critical for marine eco balance.
2. It is no longer economic to hunt them for oil, which historically was the primary reason for doing so.
3. The harpooning of them is brutal and barbaric.
Thank you for reading,
Hilary Lineage.

I am 17 years of age, and I plan to travel and see the world when I graduate high school. I fear that we are losing our environment at such a rapid rate that I will not be able to experience our native flora and fauna when I travel around Australia.
This rapid loss is devastating, and it is up to the people of Australia to voice a need for change, but it is up to our government to listen. Please, on behalf of the young people who are yet to see the beauty our country has to offer, hear us now before it is too late.

In this stressful time of climate change, we need to preserve our forests for our own survival as well as the survival of our unique Australian species.
Please strenghten the laws protecting our natural environment.

Because too much of our unique and beautiful native animals, birds and marine life is at risk of extinction due to government’s failure to protect their habitats. Once they’re gone, there’s no getting them back. W must stop corporate greed and big, short-sighted developers only interested in profits from putting at risk the very existence of these animals who deserve to live their lives as they were meant to.

Half the little barrier reef is dead. Our bush is a silent marsupial graveyard. Feral cats and cane toads are all that is left for thousands of kilometres. Decades of incompetence and mismanagement have left us living in towns and cities surrounded by hideous dead wastelands. Why don’t you do your job and start collecting the billions of dollars of taxes owed by companies I subsidise, and pay me to clean up some of your mess?

We must protect all animals from extinction. We are rapidly creating a world environment which will not be able to support any life! All creatures have a right to life and all species are critical for a healthy environment.

How many animals is it ok to lose? The answer should be zero. We need tougher environmental laws?

If we don’t help our fellow creatures on this planet now, all species will die off, including humans. Please bring in protective laws now. Don’t procrastinate any longer, things are very urgent.

We need to look after our environment and all who share it. Our wildlife is unique and it would be criminal to allow it to become extinct. They have no voice in parliament, so it is up to our elected members to fight for them
