Lodge a missing creature alert with your Member of Parliament

Missing_Creature_Report__600px_SouthernBlueWhale.jpg

Southern blue whales are truly enormous. Their hearts are the size of a small car and their heartbeats can be detected 3 kilometres away. They sing to each other in our vast oceans, where their whale songs are like low rippling earthquakes.

But they’re threatened by chemical and sound pollution, habitat loss, fishing, and climate change.

Will you lodge a missing creature alert with your local Member of Parliament? Tell them we need strong national environment laws to protect the places and wildlife we love – and ask them to raise this with their party leader.

Fill out the webform with your name and why you care. We'll print your name and message on a special missing creature alert and post it to your local MP. If you prefer, you can print and post it yourself.

Does the government wish to be known for its failure to put in place serious environmental protection, or for taking action to protect endangered species?

Blue whales are the largest animals ever known to have lived on Earth. These magnificent marine mammals are now threatened by chemical and sound pollution, habitat loss, fishing and climate change.
We need strong national environmental laws to protect this beautiful creature, and all the wildlife that have a right to coexist happily and healthily with humans on this planet. Please raise and support their protection with your party leader.

Please think of how peaceful they are, and how much awe they bring to this world. I still get so exited any time I see the spray of a whale, even if it’s really far out and only just visible. There’s something so special about them, I would hate for my child to never be able to experience that.

Our whales are still being killed in our protected Australian waters while this government stands by and does nothing. You should be ashamed of yourselves for not standing up for Australian defenceless creatures and our Australian values, oceans and our borders.

If we can’t find a way to protect the largest animal on the planet (along with other threatened species) then the human race has little chance of long-term survival as well. Time to knuckle down and tackle environmental problems before tipping points are passed.

We need and expect you to support existing marine parks, work towards cleaner oceans and minimising pollution of ocea.ns. The death by plastic and other man made pollutants is absolutely horrific and we will support everything you do to help sea creatures survive.

Southern Blue Whales are the most amazing animals. How incredible to see them and hear them. We must do all we can to protect them and our unique marine life. We need to strengthen our environmental laws not weaken them.
