Lodge a missing creature alert with your Member of Parliament

Missing_Creature_Report__600px_SwiftParrot.jpg

Swift parrots breed in the nesting hollows in big old trees in Tasmania, then fly north in winter. In search of nectar, they cross Bass Strait in small groups. When there’s lots of eucalyptus flowers, they congregate in huge colourful flocks – but in dry years they have to travel far and wide.

Habitat destruction means the fastest parrot in the world is on a rapid path to extinction.

Will you lodge a missing creature alert with your local Member of Parliament? Tell them we need strong national environment laws to protect the places and wildlife we love – and ask them to raise this with their party leader.

Fill out the webform with your name and why you care. We'll print your name and message on a special missing creature alert and post it to your local MP. If you prefer, you can print and post it yourself.

Please do something to salvage the habitat of our indigenous fauna. Their extinction will be due to inaction by those who can stand against the destruction of forests.

Australia is losing its flora and fauna at an alarming rate. Native animals are facing extinction – this is NOT acceptable.
Please help make a difference to protect our unique and wonderful wildlife by creating sanctuaries free from mining and felling of trees. We really need strong environmental laws in place.

We need strong laws to protect even more unique Australian species from becoming extinct

Every species has an important place in the ecosystem in which they have evolved, and losing one can unbalance the system, and can effect the lives of all of us in often unpredicted ways. Stronger laws and action are needed against widespread land clearing, burning for forestry purposes and habitat destruction. Please protect these vulnerable species.

Do not continue to bulldoze the the habitat that these beautiful Australian Swift parrots need for their survival. Losing them would be a tragedy and put shame on the government.

I am hear to speak up for every creature who needs help from human beings who are taking over their world. Every living creature, big or small should be important to us all.

Dear Catherine,
Swift Parrots visit the box – Ironbark forests in the north of your electorate, but are still declining in numbers. A Labor government is more likely to result from the next election if Labor announces well in advance a landmark policy to reverse fauna and fauna declines.

Australia is an incredible island; its separation from the rest of the world has allowed it to maintain its biodiversity and uniqueness. That was until the beginning of modern Australian in 1788. I am a descendant of this invasion and I don’t want my legacy to be the loss of habitat and species in the place I call home and love dearly. Can you please fight on my behalf, for legislation to protect our unique habitats that will see our wildlife continue into the future?

So many of our unique species are being wiped out because of careless human behaviour. We have to realise that we actually need nature’s wonderful diversity to live fully human lives!

Biodiversity is vital to the health of the planet and our own health and wellbeing. Losing beautiful Australian fauna to extinction is a tragedy that can and should be prevented.

Dear Minister.

Australian wildlife and wilderness are under as much pressure now as ever before. Government after Government have failed to protect our great unique environment. Government failures are the reason we are where we are because ‘YOU’ are the law makers. No one else can make laws to defend wilderness and wildlife. Politicians have to take responsibility for this and do what is right. How many more years will we have this story? Not too many or to many? Depending on which one there will be or there wont be some of these creatures. What are you going to do?

Regards.

Mal Hull.

Gwenyth Broug as a teacher I am aware that the Australian Education National Curriculum teaches sustainability and the web of life. Students are given the impression that governments actually care and are protecting the environment. Tragic that they are being misled while losing the ecosystem and diversity of life they should be inheriting.

We need better environment protection laws to help save this animal from extinction due to habitat loss..

This little guy’s exquisite.
Do you want a world without him & his friends?
It would be so much poorer.
Perhaps if you stopped bringing in so many migrants it would be possible not to keep clearing their homeland & they could stay here.
But then we do have a history of this don’t we. Do we need to repeat it? Or can we do something different? Something new?
Something creative & innovative?
