Lodge a missing creature alert with your Member of Parliament

Missing_Creature_Report__600px_SwiftParrot.jpg

Swift parrots breed in the nesting hollows in big old trees in Tasmania, then fly north in winter. In search of nectar, they cross Bass Strait in small groups. When there’s lots of eucalyptus flowers, they congregate in huge colourful flocks – but in dry years they have to travel far and wide.

Habitat destruction means the fastest parrot in the world is on a rapid path to extinction.

Will you lodge a missing creature alert with your local Member of Parliament? Tell them we need strong national environment laws to protect the places and wildlife we love – and ask them to raise this with their party leader.

Fill out the webform with your name and why you care. We'll print your name and message on a special missing creature alert and post it to your local MP. If you prefer, you can print and post it yourself.

We need to protect this beautiful, unique endangered species before it is too late. Once lost we will never recover it.

I don’t want to live in a world without birdsong. Already the forests near my home are quieter. We have to be able to live in such a way that other creatures can also survive and thrive. What we are in danger of losing is so precious and we will be poorer without it.

Hello, I care about the future wellbeing of the wonderful Swift Parrot, these remarkable birds make an annual journey to Central Victoria where I live. The community celebrates the Swifties arrival and have headed out in force to count and monitor their behaviour. Like many threatened species, Swift Parrots have a right to exist. Habitat destruction in Tasmania and around Melbourne and else where is having a massive impact,
Please act to protect the Swift Parrot!

Imagine a world without this incredible creature?! I love Australia’s quirky and beautiful animals, and hope one day that I can giggle at them, watch them and enjoy them with my kids! Stronger nature laws are needed now. Stand up and represent me and what matters!

We must urgently protect Australia’s vulnerable species from extinction. Please advocate for new laws to protect our wildlife.

Swift parrots deserve a chance just as much as we do. We must make sure logging companies stop destroying their home by making strong national environment laws. As your constituent, I ask you to raise this with your party leader.
