To all Australian banks,
As the funders for many of our biggest and boldest projects, you hold the unique power to direct huge money into solutions to the climate crisis — and away from making it worse. We urge you to invest in our future, not coal and gas. We call on you to:
- Set a deadline — 2030 or earlier — to end all your investments in thermal coal
- Rule out funding any new or expanded thermal coal, oil or gas projects
- Ramp up funding for climate solutions like clean energy

It is my request to please not invest in coal and gas extraction projects. It has already caused so much harm to our environment and we don’t want this crisis to increase as it has now.

You have been funding the mining, gas and petroleum industries for so many decades that you have trashed almost the entire australian environment.
Digging and burning coal is the biggest driver of emissions and fuels the climate crisis. Climate damage is here now and the people of Australia will continue to suffer from it. From bushfires that raged for 200+ days to air pollution, coral bleaching and mass extinctions, we need to act now. By funding and supporting fossil fuel organisations, you are complicit in climate devastation and bear responsibility for the devastating fallout it will cause.
Be very careful where your organization directs its funding;
It can either save or cost lives and the future of all on the one home we have to share.

This country has all the natural resources for all the clean energies. You have the capacity to make the difference so that we all have a future.
Durable thermal energy for large scale storage and heat pump technology is already available. Clean energy of solar and wind is already economic. The world market is searching for clean hydrogen suppliers. Australia has a million square kilometers of suitable open land for clean energy.
Ending our reliance on fossil fuels is imperative. Please do not fund such industries, but commit instead to renewable energy projects.
The Banks must stop funding the industries that make the situation worse for the whole planet. Ultimately it will make it much worse for them as well.
