To all Australian banks,

As the funders for many of our biggest and boldest projects, you hold the unique power to direct huge money into solutions to the climate crisis — and away from making it worse. We urge you to invest in our future, not coal and gas. We call on you to:

  • Set a deadline — 2030 or earlier — to end all your investments in thermal coal
  • Rule out funding any new or expanded thermal coal, oil or gas projects
  • Ramp up funding for climate solutions like clean energy

As bankers you well know if you spend more than you save the outcome is bad.
If we continue to liberate more carbon dioxide than the plants can bank, we will eventually run out of air to breath.
Most likely the climate will change catastrophically first, but even if it doesn’t, our combustion engines will stop and living animals, us included, will become very lethargic.
