Lodge a missing creature alert with your Member of Parliament

Missing_Creature_Report__600px_web_GreaterGlider.jpg

Greater gliders are pretty extraordinary.

These peaceful possums live in leaf-lined hollows and spend their nights foraging high up in the forest canopies. They can glide 100 meters between trees!

But over decades, armies of bulldozers have charged through our forests, knocking down their homes. This must stop.

Will you lodge a missing creature alert with your local Member of Parliament? Tell them we need strong national environment laws to protect the places and wildlife we love – and ask them to raise this with their party leader.

Fill out the webform with your name and why you care. We'll print your name and message on a special missing creature alert and post it to your local MP. If you prefer, you can print and post it yourself.

To my Minister of Parliament,
Please do the right thing. We need to laws to protect our environment. We should not be supporting practices that destroy it.

Please help save Australia’s iconic beautiful wildlife. Greater Glider is but one of our endangered gems. PLEASE use your power to push for stronger measures to save them from extinction. Australia’s record is an absolute disgrace in this respect. thank you

I am very concerned about the amount of  deforestation happening in our state and across our country. I am seeing our beautiful natural environment disappearing without what seems any consideration of its impact on the wildlife and the impact of those big old trees being  felled. Governments have allowed over decades, armies of bulldozers to charge through our forests, knocking down the Great Gliders homes and many other vunerable wildlife. This must stop.

This country, state and local area needs strong national environment laws to protect our wonderful natural forests – our environment and its wildlife, that we love.
Can you please raise the need for strong environmental laws to protect our fauna and flora, such as great glider. Can you ask your party and your party’s leader to ensure resources and the Laws are available and in place to protect this countrys vunerable wildlife and the environment they live in.

Stand up and be counted as one who helped make a difference.

These rare Australian wildlife animals are unique to Australia and part of why people worlwide love this country so we need to protect them as a form of heritage for now and future generations.

Please, no more bulldozing of these amazing gliders’ homes! Our children and their children need to see and appreciate their unique gliding capacity!

Too much of our wildlife is needlessly destroyed. It is here for a reason – to sustain the biodiversity of all .

The Greater Glider is rarely seen, but needs old-growth forest to survive. We need o protect its habitat

This is getting beyond ridiculous.
There’s going to be a time where somebody wakes up and realises that what we’re dealing with is far bigger than previously thought. You probably get messages like this all the time, and probably from students, but as a university student studying zoology and botany I place great importance on the biodiversity and lives of every single animal. PLEASE HELP STOP THE DEFORESTATION AND HABITAT DESTRUCTION !! PLEEAASE JUST DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT!! THERE ARE SO MANY PEOPLE WHO CARE ABOUT THIS AND IF ALL YOU CARE ABOUT IS MONEY AND VOTES, THERE ARE SO MANY WAYS TO GET MORE MONEY AND MORE VOTES OFF THIS!!! JUST. DO. IT. I KNOW YOU CAN DUDE GET UP AND DO IT THESE THINGS ARE INCREDIBLE !! DO YOU WANT TO DIE BEING LIKE EVERY OTHER MEMBER OF PARLIAMENT OR DO YOU WANT TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT CONTRIBUTING TO ONE OF THE BIGGEST PROBLEMS OUR EARTH IS FACING!??! DOOOO IT PLEASEEE !! SAVE THE GREATER GLIDERS AND THE BLUE WHALE AND EVERY OTHER ANIMAL SUFFERING FROM THIS!! You got it, I believe in you homie.

Dear Tony;

Please support efforts to protect the habitat of endangered animals of Australia. For example, the establishment of the Great Forest National Park would bring wonderful environmental and economic benefits to Victoria.
Thanking you for your kind attention
Sincerely

Hi Graham,
Have you seen the latest endangered species list for Australia?
It jumped markedly last year which is of real concern and high lights just how poor our environmental laws are. Extinct means gone forever and we will never be able to retrieve that species.
Australia has an absolutely abominable record on exterminating native species. In just 230 years we have destroyed more native animals than North America and Europe that have been populated for thousands of years.
It is time to put the environment front and foremost before plunder and profits. We just can’t continue to poke holes in our biosphere, we are a part of it and every species has a supportive place to fill.
Time to stop unchecked land clearing and the destruction of old growth forests.
For the sake of future generations shine a light on the losses and take some action to reverse the current destructive trends
Bruce 2018-06-07 12:27:22 +1000
We are losing our wildlife at a fast moving pace. Our wild animals need to be protected before it is too late. Their habitat must be protected at all cost. Environmental laws need readjusting to save all of these animals for future generations to com.
Doreen 2018-06-07 12:13:59 +1000
Please stop destructions of forests where these lovely animals live. If you don’t take action soon enough it may be to late for them.
Sara 2018-06-07 12:10:13 +1000
This animal habitat is being taken away from land clearing. Stop this before it is too late

Dear Jenny,
we need stronger environmental laws to save these unique and special creatures from extinction- not just these gliders, but also numbats, the swift parrot, the legless lizard, the palm cockatoo… we’ve already lost others.
Please raise this with Mr. Shorten.
Our future is bound up with the future of forests and habitats for all our unique creatures. We depend on the oxygen and nutrients from these forests as all life does. It is madness as well as a crime , I think, not to balance needs so that we ensure life is not destroyed.
We need to act quickly now as Australia has one of the worst records in the world in this.
With thanks for your work, Jenny, which always seems to me good-hearted and thoughtful,
Elsa

Sir, I insist you tell your party leaders that the population at large demand protection of habitat for all life forms that inhabit MY world. It’s Not yours to exploit, not at the cost of the biodiversity. Do you actually think nature we NEED, cos we are not separate from it, can be allowed to collapse like it is doing and not end up killing us all? Guys if they go WE GO. I demand your govt handle this environment with a view of passing the conservation batten on through ‘generations’ not just to pay ‘lip service’ to the constituents to get yourself reelected. YOU ARE GIVEN THIS JOB TO SERVE US not allow UNHEALTHY policy to wipe us out. NO JOBS ON A DEAD PLANET. Now tell em!

Once a animal becomes extinct, you can’t bring them back. We need to protect them and save them before it’s too late!
Erin 2018-06-07 11:16:25 +1000
Dear MP,

We need strong national environment laws to protect the places and wildlife we love. Too many Australian animals and habitats are under the threat of extinction exclusively because of man actions.

I urge you to work towards the right environmental laws and to bring these to the attention of your party leaders.

It is our moral obligation to protect the animals and their environment for generations to come.

Dear Sir
We have been blessed with the most wondrous of planets which for the sake of money and business we are destroying. We have no right to do so. We should be prioritising the habitats of all creatures maintaining the ecosystem of our planet. Please, please honour and make the ecosystem of our planet a priority. We must preserve the habitats of all creatures not just the greater glider, the numbats, the swift parrot, the palm cockatoo and the legless lizards, all creature habitats are necessary to keep our planet alive and well.
We must look to the past, present and the future of our planet to sustain it.
Thank you
Your sincerely
Dianne Craig
