This week we've learned that tech company Siemens is considering a dirty deal with Adani.
Adani needs a company to install signalling on the 200km railway it will use to transport coal to the coast. Only a few companies in Australia can do this work – and all except Siemens have ruled it out!
Call any (or all!) of these Siemens offices and ask them to leave a message for Jeff Connolly (CEO Siemens Australia & Pacific) and Raphaelle Guerineau (CEO Siemens Mobility Australia & New Zealand). Ask them to rule out working on the climate-wrecking project.

Share your support for Siemens committing to the Paris Agreement to keep global temperature rise well below 2°C and pursue efforts to limit it to 1.5°C. Remind Siemens that helping Adani dig up and export coal for burning is incompatible with the Paris Agreement.

Mention that burning coal is the biggest cause of climate damage – and the Adani mine would open the Galilee Basin to one of the biggest expansions of coal mining on planet Earth.

Suggest that by backing clean energy and refusing to work on dangerous projects like coal mines, companies like Siemens can provide solutions to the climate crisis – not be part of the problem.

I said that contracting with Adani contradicted Siemens stated aim of reducing carbon emissions, and I said I was concerned about climate change and the water that Adani will have access to at a time of severe drought and widespread fires. The woman on reception kindly said that she would pass on my message to management.
I spoke to someone on the first number and she was very kind and polite I told her that Siemens has a good record, a green record so far and don’t ruin it and not to work at Adani. I said that we are now in a climate emergency and it’s obvious that we don’t want to open up the Galilee basin. She said she would definitely pass the message on and we ended on a cordial note.

(With a sigh) the woman at the other end took no details but said she would pass on my message with all the other messages to management. I managed to tell her I was in hospital with lung problems exacerbated by recent smoke inhalation.

All calls went through. I politely asked the person on the other side to deliver my message to CEO and mentioned that people in Germany want an end to coal mining (due to catastrophic climate emergency) and that there is even a German word for it: Kohleausstieg. Also Siemens would be better off investing totally in renewables: Energiewende.
Called all of them, left polite messages about our disappointment with Siemens if they proceed with assisting Adani.

two of the numbers just said my concerns would be forwared with the others but the midle number took my name and statement.
Took about 10 secs- asked how best I could impress on Siemens that the Australian people don’t want them to work with Adani- said she’d pass on a message- had to be prompted to take my name
