The Labor Party is still tying themselves in knots about Adani. They need to hear from us encouraging them to reject this polluting coal mine.
This is Labor’s Franklin River moment. This decision will go down in Australian environmental history. The ALP are so close, but we need to get them over the line.
Give them the courage and confidence to make the right decision!

Spoke to “Rebecca” in Tanya Plibersek’s office … asked her to pass on my views of fierce opposition to Adani … and urged Labor to make a clear statement to say they would not support the mine.
Tanyas office have been inundated with calls. I made it crystal clear that none of us here in Australia besides corrupt businessmen and corrupt politicians support Adani in any way shape or form and that Adani are not welcome anywhere in Australia. She said Tanya feels strongly against the mine if it ’doesn’t stack up’ which of course they will find a way to make it ‘stack up environmentally’
Bill Shorten’s office. I told them that I would like to encourage them to stand firm against the go ahead for Adani Coal Mine as it would be an environmental catastrophe. I said that I was one among many Australian citizens that would support Labour’s decision to oppose the Adani Coal mine.
They did not ask for my name or details.

I called Tony Burke and spoke to staffer who was very nice and said she would pass on my message. She did ask how had I heard about this
Rang them all but only got a response from Tanya Plibersek and Bill Shorten staff members. Positive response from these two offices. All other calls rang out.
Tanya Plibersek’s office confirmed their position hasn’t changed. The Adani mine doesn’t stack up and they don’t support it. The staffer was grateful for the extra voice though.

I rang Bill Shorten ‘s office and spoke to Amber. Expressed my concern for all the obvious reasons and said I always supported ALP but may cross to Greens if they can’t show some spine and leadership on the issues of climate change Reef degradation and alternative sustainable energy!!!!
Spoke to Bill Shortens office at 3.35. Ask the Alp position and got told if it doesn’t stack up economically/environmentally, that the ALP will not support it. She said Bill will make an announcement in the coming weeks, so whatch this space.
I called Tony Burke, Tanya Plibersek, Chris Bowen, Anthony Albanese, Mark Dreyfus, Bill Shorten, Mark Butler. I left a message with a staff member of my disagreement t with any support for the Adani mine. I received a positive response. Staff for Tanya Plibersek amd Mark Butler said these members continue to hold a position of disagreement with the mine.
Bill Shorten, Anthony Albanese, Mark Butler, Tanya Plibersek. All staffers very polite and obviously had had a number of calls. One (Mark Butler’s office) said no such decision had been made today by cabinet.
I eventually got through to all offices putting my point of view, which was, protect the great Barrier Reef, Great Artesian Basin and the Atmosphere.
Bill Shorten, call went for 2 mins. Told them my Great Grandfather was president of the AWU and a former Senator and that Coal fired steam engines are from my Grandfathers era and its time to move on. Wind , Solar and Pumped Hydro are known solutions to a known problem;),

Tanya Plibersek Staffer will pass on my message asking for a strong statement of opposition rather than a wishy washy statement about whether it stacks up financially or environmentally. At some stage you have to step up to the plate.
Bill Shorten. Spoke to his young assistant who was dismissive and keen to get off the phone. I left my details and a message saying that I oppose the Adani mine.
Called bill shortens melbourne office. A staffer answered she was polite but sounded frustrated so assuming she’d been getting lots of calls. She said bill was on a plane to sydney
Called Tanya Plibersek’s office and spoke to Christine who was very polite, said there had been a number of calls and Labor’s policy on the Adani mine remained the same. When I said that I didn’t think there was anything left to ‘stack’ with this issue, she agreed.

Hello I called Bill Shortens electoral office listed on ACF list. The call went quite well. I am not experienced at calling MP’s . I expressed my concern about Labor considering supporting Adani and said they should reject it. I am concerned about climate change and damage from coal .

Tanya Plibersek: very pleasant conversation with someone from Tanya’s office who was informed about the issues. She said that federal Labor’s position has not changed: if the project doesn’t stack up then Labor will not support it. She noted my concerns.
Bill Shorten: briefer but still pleasant conversation with someone from Bill’s office. Took my name & noted my concerns.
