Woodside's Scarborough Gas Project is one of Australia's most polluting new fossil fuel projects.
To be built off the northwest coast of Western Australia, the Scarborough Project threatens local marine wildlife. The processing of the gas also puts at risk 40,000-year-old Murujuga rock art.
It would also generate ten times the annual emissions of Western Australia’s most polluting coal-fired power station.
Most of the gas dug up at Scarborough would be burnt overseas. But no matter where Australian coal and gas are burned, it damages our climate and impacts communities here and around the world. From the Great Barrier Reef in the east to Ningaloo Reef in the west, our living world is counting on us to stop climate-polluting projects like Woodside's Scarborough Gas Project.

End coal and gas in Australia to ramp up climate action. That means:
- This decade, replacing existing coal, gas and uranium exports with a renewable-powered exports industry and climate-positive careers for communities
- No new coal and gas projects or infrastructure
- Stop spending public money on the fossil fuel industry – fund climate solutions instead."
Our state and federal governments are handing over $22,000 in public money every minute to the polluting coal and gas industries, which fuel climate impacts like more extreme floods, fires and droughts.
We cannot afford to keep squandering public money on digging, expanding, exporting and burning coal and gas.
For a safe climate future, let’s instead invest our public money into renewable exports that can replace coal and gas, slash pollution and create climate-positive jobs that future-proof our economy.

Regarding Woodside’s plan to drill for gas off the coast of Western Australia.
I am very concerned about the billions of tonnes of climate change emissions from the Burrup Hub. I am also concerned about its impact on marine wildlife, such as sea turtles and whales, and important habitats like Scott Reef and Mermaid Reef.
I want my grandchildren to have a safe planet to live on as well as all the marine life

It’s a horrible practice to deafen animals and by proxy cause their death.
We have had 97 whales come to the shore in WA yesterday. When I was reading about this, the conversation has posted “Whales may also become stranded due to an external stress. For example, whales use sound to communicate, navigate and search for food. Loud man-made underwater noises can disrupt this system”. I would hate to imagine the blast that Woodside is planning to do would have on the Whales
Woodside you need to stop this project it is too damaging for the marine environment stop torturing whales and destroying the planet
