Woodside's Scarborough Gas Project is one of Australia's most polluting new fossil fuel projects.
To be built off the northwest coast of Western Australia, the Scarborough Project threatens local marine wildlife. The processing of the gas also puts at risk 40,000-year-old Murujuga rock art.
It would also generate ten times the annual emissions of Western Australia’s most polluting coal-fired power station.
Most of the gas dug up at Scarborough would be burnt overseas. But no matter where Australian coal and gas are burned, it damages our climate and impacts communities here and around the world. From the Great Barrier Reef in the east to Ningaloo Reef in the west, our living world is counting on us to stop climate-polluting projects like Woodside's Scarborough Gas Project.

"To the Prime Minister, Energy Minister and Environment Minister,
End coal and gas in Australia to ramp up climate action. That means:
- This decade, replacing existing coal, gas and uranium exports with a renewable-powered exports industry and climate-positive careers for communities
- No new coal and gas projects or infrastructure
- Stop spending public money on the fossil fuel industry – fund climate solutions instead."
Our state and federal governments are handing over $22,000 in public money every minute to the polluting coal and gas industries, which fuel climate impacts like more extreme floods, fires and droughts.
We cannot afford to keep squandering public money on digging, expanding, exporting and burning coal and gas.
For a safe climate future, let’s instead invest our public money into renewable exports that can replace coal and gas, slash pollution and create climate-positive jobs that future-proof our economy.

Mining for gas results in unintended environmental damage/pollution. I do not want large scale pollution off the coast of Scarborough, in Perth Western Australia.
It is highly likely that there would be a negative impact on ocean life and other wildlife.

Labour is not doing a great job in governing our country at present and stopping this is one way it could leave a positive legacy from its term of government

Woodside’s interests are clear, they are putting profit ahead of climate. They have the ability to invest in clean, renewable energy projects but choose to develop polluting new gas fields like Scarborough. Its time our government and large corporations put our climate and people’s livelihood’s first and stop new gas and oil projects.
This project is ruining our planet. It’ll have dire consequences when it’s finished, and high backlash, so the best thing we can do is inhibit it.
The world climate needs co2 emissions to stop right now and the future costs of the climate change we are headed for will far far far outweigh any economic benefit we receive now from the gas extraction.

I studied and read books 25+ years ago about the finite and self destructive use of fossil fuels. This pattern of human behavior is the exact definition of insanity- repeatedly doing the same thing and expecting a different result.
Our indigenous families tell us: ‘Our land is in pain and hurting’
We can see it with our own eyes and experience it with our senses.
It doesn’t require anymore 20 point plans, strategy documents or endless reporting and consultancy forums……

40,000 year old Murujugu Rock Art destruction is surely a violation of international discrimination and human rights laws with reference to heritage & culture to name a few.

I love the environment and don’t want humanity’s gas projects and coal projects such as this one to be a detrimental factor to the deflation of our beloved planet.
Jeopardizing the futures of many and for what purpose? Because it will help strengthen the economy? Because you have stocks in the company? Because you refuse to look past the digits in your bank account? Perhaps you could meticulously form a response that appeals to those that want to remain willfully ignorant of these truths but it will not appeal to me, so please tell me, why are you doing this to our communities, our family, our country? As I do not see a reasoning, a benefit, that outweighs the detriment this project may cause to our natural environment and communities.
Biodiversity is crucial for the continuation of our planet, we are already in our 6th mass extinction. Tell me, what is a strong economy in a world that is on fire?
