Lodge a missing creature alert with your Member of Parliament

Missing_Creature_Report__600px_web_SouthernCorroboreeFrog.jpg

Teeny tiny southern corroboree frogs live in a small mountainous patch of Kosciuszko National Park. They ooze poison from their striking skin and hibernate in logs, bark and leaf litter in winter.

But habitat destruction, climate damage, bushfires and a devastating frog fungus mean there are probably less than 100 left in the wild.

Will you lodge a missing creature alert with your local Member of Parliament? Tell them we need strong national environment laws to protect the places and wildlife we love – and ask them to raise this with their party leader.

Fill out the webform with your name and why you care. We'll print your name and message on a special missing creature alert and post it to your local MP. If you prefer, you can print and post it yourself.

long term survival of this planet’s (more specifically this continent) animals and a balanced biodiversity is more important than short term gain from habitat destruction.

We have single-handedly instigated the endangerment of so many species of our wonderful native flora and fauna, and it is sickening to think how selfish we are as to not focus on preserving the natural wonders we have been blessed with for future generations, and to see Australian species thriving in their natural environments.

I have personally had the great privilege of working alongside those involved with a Southern Corroboree Frog conservation initiative based in New South Wales, and am well aware that future generations may not be so fortunate to even lay eyes upon this beautiful endemic species. These frogs should be flourishing within their stunning alpine environment, but instead have distressingly become critically endangered.

It is essential that we act now before our damage becomes entirely irreversible. Please, consider our immense amounts of vulnerable species and turn your attention to conserving their precious lives.

When exactly will it all stop? The whole jobs and growth thing. What does it actually look like in its end game?

The human affect on our native wildlife has been overwhelmingly bad. Our governments and political parties MUST do more to protect habitat and prevent it’s being broken up into a patchwork of plots that do not help our wildlife.

All animals have a right to live in peace and not be held to ransom for man’s greed! Why do we feel it is o.k. to destroy the environment which we all rely on, where do these animals go when their home is gone? Extinction is forever and there is no going back. Only 100 of these little frogs left? Still believe there is no such thing as CLIMATE CHANGE? Wake up before it is too late, please! Laws must be made and enforced to protect the environment before there are no little frogs left.

The Southern Corroboree Frog is close to extinction, on the critically endangered list! There are less than 100 of these striking, yellow and black, little 2.5 cm creatures left. Dwelling in a small part of the Kosciusko National Park, their habitat is now being wiped out by bushfires and other causes.
We need strong national environment laws to protect the few remaining frogs. I’m asking you to please raise this with your party leader so that laws can be put in place to this effect before it is too late.
Sincerely,

We must look after our environment and it’s amazing creatures if we too are to survive.

More and more animals are becoming extinct. We are one of the best countries to live in, maybe the best.

Yet our unique species are becoming extinct.

Rainforests are being pulled down, coal mining is going ahead to an even bigger degree. This and more is destroying our beautiful wildlife by destroying their habitats.

My 5 year old grandson is very cross with people who destroy animal homes. I haven’t the heart to tell him that our Government is letting them and somtimes PAYING them to destroy the natural habitat. Please stand up for what is right and speak up at the right times. Challenge those with the I don’t care attitudes. Do it for the future generations of Australians and the future of our wildlife.

Thankyou

To the relevant MP,

Please act now to tighten the environment laws for the protection of Southern Corroboree Frog habitat. The conservation of the Southern Corroboree Frog is critical, given it’s endemic distribution in the sensitive alpine and subalpine landscapes. This endangered frog is at the mercy of avoidable and topicable threats, such as anthropogenic habitat alterations, and brumby impacts. By protecting its sensitive habitat you will also be supporting other sympatric, endangered species, such as the Sheoak Skink. Act now!

Life is not just about human beings. Without habitat and other creatures there can be no future. Clean water to drink, clean air to breathe and healthy food suppies all depend on other creatures.

I should not have to tell you why I care about this or any other creature. It should go without saying that all creatures are precious and it is beyond my comprehension that humans have caused so much death and destruction on this planet. PLEASE act now and do what ever is in your power to stop the extinction of yet another beautiful animal. This is what power should be for, to protect those who cannot protect themselves.

Please use your position to protect our environment for all creatures we share this planet with, as well as for the benefit of our children and future generations.

Political decisions must be made for the long term, not just greedy short term financial gain.

Life, our community and our environment are more important than the economy. We have the power to invest in and lead the world in environmentaly sustainable industries rather than continue to support greedy destructive industries and companies.
