Lodge a missing creature alert with your Member of Parliament

Missing_Creature_Report__600px_web_SouthernCorroboreeFrog.jpg

Teeny tiny southern corroboree frogs live in a small mountainous patch of Kosciuszko National Park. They ooze poison from their striking skin and hibernate in logs, bark and leaf litter in winter.

But habitat destruction, climate damage, bushfires and a devastating frog fungus mean there are probably less than 100 left in the wild.

Will you lodge a missing creature alert with your local Member of Parliament? Tell them we need strong national environment laws to protect the places and wildlife we love – and ask them to raise this with their party leader.

Fill out the webform with your name and why you care. We'll print your name and message on a special missing creature alert and post it to your local MP. If you prefer, you can print and post it yourself.

The corroboree frog is a precious species of frog that needs to be saved from extinction

Ahhh… it’s hard to put into words exactly why this matters so… well, there’s the whole web of life that gets thrown out of whack when creatures disappear. That matters a lot obviously.
But there is an intrinsic worth to these animals, all of which matter. And there is the rather terrifying fact that we, recent inhabitants to this country, are the cause of their destruction. I am ashamed, and fearful of what our greed and curious minds and experimental creations, will do to our country and this world if we are not active in taking care and preserving this land that we’ve taken over.

The extinction of life on planet Earth is not new and will continue for sometime, it seems. Are you and the government happy that what is being allied to occur in our forests is simply madness, tantamount to cutting off our own fingers because the get dirty.
If frogs disappear we disappear not that long after, so can you imagine or perceive of a way you might reduce the pressure on the Southern corroboree frog and its habitat? Can you guess how we might ease the pace at which we are delivery disaster to our children and theirs?
No offence intended, yet I guess you are in a position to act for yourself and your family and that is what our community needs, now.
Please have a go.
Sincerely,
Paul

every one on this planet has it own purpose to be, we are not in any power to change it, so to allowed it distraction….unless we want to destroy our-self and planet Earth. Why don’t we rather help our- self?

We cannot be responsible for completely decimating these creatures causing extinction of an entire species. We must change laws and take action before it’s too late

Australia now has the highest rate of extinction of native animals in the world. Our misuse of the country from excessive land clearing, rampant extractive (mining) industries, selling our water to private entities, and over grazing is shameful and short sighted. We have destroyed so much in the past 200 years. Compare this to the original, custodians who cared for the country for 60,000 years. We must put a stop to this. Our children will not forgive us.

Please re-instate funding for endangered species protection, so animals from our region like the Southern Corroboree Frog will survive.
It’s essential that government step up and play it’s part to preserve the current and potential future benefits that might be identified from these threatened creatures.
I look forward to your positive consideration.

I’ve been to Kosciussko National Park and would’ve liked to see this frog in the wild – it needs protection to survive.

Dear Member For Parliament,

I am writing to you today in hopes of requesting your help for The Southern Corroboree Frog.
We Human’s as the dominant and and superior force of this world has a duty to take care of all of the lesser animals, flora and fauna under our care and make sure that our actions or in actions do not deprive our future generations of the strange and unique creatures of this land, especially of Australia where our diverse and unique sea, air and land animals roam of this planet .
It is our duty to take care of even the smallest most annoying critter such as a mosquito or bee, which is crucial to all living things for so many different reasons .
But how can we or more importantly people like yourself who are in a position of power not react to the distraction and deviation we as human beings are forcing on our world, our environment and the flora, fauna and sea creatures.
It is here we see The Southern Corroboree Frog may be “MISSING IN ACTION”, but we truly know what Missing In Action means " Endangered, extinct or almost extinct.
Therefore I employ you to please step up to the plate and go to bat for this beautiful, unique, marvellous creature that is part of our Australian heritage.

Yours Sincerely,

Julie Pederick.

I care about the Southern Corroboree frog because such a small amphibian can’t fight climate change, whereas we can. Please, stop this preventable extinction before it’s too late.

I don’t want to see our unique fauna decimated by the destruction of their habitat. National environment laws are urgently needed to protect our wildlife, in particular endangered species such as the southern corroboree frogs. Please take action to save our environment and our beautiful wildlife.
