Lodge a missing creature alert with your Member of Parliament

Missing_Creature_Report__600px_web_SouthernCorroboreeFrog.jpg

Teeny tiny southern corroboree frogs live in a small mountainous patch of Kosciuszko National Park. They ooze poison from their striking skin and hibernate in logs, bark and leaf litter in winter.

But habitat destruction, climate damage, bushfires and a devastating frog fungus mean there are probably less than 100 left in the wild.

Will you lodge a missing creature alert with your local Member of Parliament? Tell them we need strong national environment laws to protect the places and wildlife we love – and ask them to raise this with their party leader.

Fill out the webform with your name and why you care. We'll print your name and message on a special missing creature alert and post it to your local MP. If you prefer, you can print and post it yourself.

Please help the Southern Corroboree Frog and save it from going extinct due to the spread of the chytrid fungus, climate change and the loss of habitat caused by us. Ignoring the plight of our wildlife only makes life worse for all, not just the particular species involved. Thankyou.

5 June 2018.

To the Honourable
Minister of Parliament,
I urge you to stop logging.
It is vital for our species.

The southern corroboree frog will be in danger:
And will go too extinction.
Please reverse your decision.
Yours sincerely.
Catharina de Graaff.

Great frog. Belongs in our ever-diminishing and fragile alpine ecosystems. Just like how Brumbies don’t…

In the couple of centuries since European settlement we have misused this country with excessive land clearing and wasteful water use, over-grazing and inappropriate agricultural practices, sprawling urban development and unsustainable mining practices. Not to mention climate change, caused by the profligate use of fossil fuels. We must change our ways, or our children and grandchildren will not forgive us.

Having been isolated from the rest of the world for over 60 million years, Australia has unique flora and fauna. More than 80% of Australia’s plants, mammals, reptiles and frogs are unique to Australia, found nowhere else. But Australia also has the highest rate of extinction in the world. Please take action to stop unique native species such as the southern corroboree frog from disappearing.

In my opinion, man does not have the right to dome other species to extinction. Politicians have to realise that the majority of Australians don’t want our beautiful and unique wildlife and their environments destroyed for short term economic greed. Please Mr Politician, start protecting our environment and all of its creatures because next election, you may become “politically extinct” also.
