It’s time to make our democracy fair for everyone.

Sign the open letter calling on our elected representatives to work together to get big money out of our political system and put people and planet back in.

Open letter

To our elected representatives,

We call on you to work together to get big money out of our political system and put people back in.

This means:

  • Banning large donations to political parties and candidates.
  • Increasing the transparency of political donations, including real time reporting of donations.
  • Limiting expenditure at election times so corporations can’t use their oversized  wallets to drown out our voices.
  • Creating an independent watchdog to investigate and stamp out corruption.
  • Stronger lobbying regulation and greater transparency so we know who’s meeting with our elected representatives and why.

Being a “new” Australian I want my vote to decide who leads this country, NOT other people’s money!!

Maybe it’s a pipe dream but you have to hope that big business will start to be part of the whole climate change issue and save the planet and its future inhabitants!

It is time that the people took back our democracy from big business and their lobbyist. Why should Clive Palmer have more clout with politicians than the vast majority of Australians. We need laws to outlaw some individuals and organisations, that because of the financial resources, can have negative impacts on good policy

Our government should represent the best interests of the Australian people, not cashed up business lobbyists.

Democracy not a plutocracy. People should be in politics to as public servant’s… not to line their own pockets. The Australian political system is broken and corrupt.

We need total transparency to where donations go and by whom. Democracy must be driven by the people not politicians deciding based on donations

Our people are not stupid, but the way big money is thrown around, we sometimes feel bypassed.

Frank Francis…selling off a piece of the farm to repay your debts eventually leads to bankruptsy. This is exactly what Australia has been doing for many, many years. Both major political parties subscribe to this,as an easy way to keep the nation prosperous in the short term…I am at a loss to explain the logic in this anti Australian attitude……Frank Francis

We also urgently require “truth in political advertising” legislation! How else can we stop the Kelly / Palmers sick disinformation campaign?
