Open letter
To our elected representatives,
We call on you to work together to get big money out of our political system and put people back in.
This means:
- Banning large donations to political parties and candidates.
- Increasing the transparency of political donations, including real time reporting of donations.
- Limiting expenditure at election times so corporations can’t use their oversized wallets to drown out our voices.
- Creating an independent watchdog to investigate and stamp out corruption.
- Stronger lobbying regulation and greater transparency so we know who’s meeting with our elected representatives and why.

It is a fundamental tenet of democracy that all citizens have an equal voice. For sectional interests to pay political parties for prioritisation of their interests is anti democratic. You will be aware that Australia is becoming more corrupt as shown by impartial assessments. This situation is totally unsatisfactory and needs to be addressed as soon as possible.
Democracy… of the people, by the people, for the people. ALL THE PEOPLE! That’s how it was, let’s ensure that’s how it is!
Because I am a person and responsible not a corporation and irresponsible
Predatory Global Capital and Mining own the Australian Governments.
We want a real life-supporting system, not a deceptive life-destroying system
Being a “new” Australian I want my vote to decide who leads this country, NOT other people’s money!!
Maybe it’s a pipe dream but you have to hope that big business will start to be part of the whole climate change issue and save the planet and its future inhabitants!
It is time that the people took back our democracy from big business and their lobbyist. Why should Clive Palmer have more clout with politicians than the vast majority of Australians. We need laws to outlaw some individuals and organisations, that because of the financial resources, can have negative impacts on good policy
Our government should represent the best interests of the Australian people, not cashed up business lobbyists.
Democracy not a plutocracy. People should be in politics to as public servant’s… not to line their own pockets. The Australian political system is broken and corrupt.
Too many people form the unaccounted-for collateral of big business’ interests.
