It’s time to make our democracy fair for everyone.

Sign the open letter calling on our elected representatives to work together to get big money out of our political system and put people and planet back in.

Open letter

To our elected representatives,

We call on you to work together to get big money out of our political system and put people back in.

This means:

  • Banning large donations to political parties and candidates.
  • Increasing the transparency of political donations, including real time reporting of donations.
  • Limiting expenditure at election times so corporations can’t use their oversized  wallets to drown out our voices.
  • Creating an independent watchdog to investigate and stamp out corruption.
  • Stronger lobbying regulation and greater transparency so we know who’s meeting with our elected representatives and why.

Greed does not help the country. You have grown too big and are damaging the water.

Democracy thankfully is in my DNA, hopefully in most Australians too.
This is a call to arms, listen up & act

We are really sick of the huge influence that big fossil fuel companies have on the Governments of our country.
It’s about time that this issue was exposed for the danger it imposes on Australians & all people.

If we don’t save our planet Democracy will be dead along with the population!

The inability to act on climate change is, to a significant extent, a consequence of vested interests (.e. coal, oil and gas) having a strong influence over government policies and decisions – or, sometimes, a lack thereof. Misinformation and disinformation are often used as a smokescreen to ensure that the public doesn’t get informed about the risks that are increasing all around them. Opportunities are lost as the world transitions to cleaner energy and where enormous benefits should be flowing to Australia.

Politicians are elected to represent us the people or at least the interests of the majority of people not whomever can give the biggest donations from particular vested interest groups. Politicians should make independant decisions for the benefit of the greater good!

I think donations to political parties should be capped at $1000 from and individual or company in any one year. The public should fund political parties to put their case to the public prior to an election in ways that are not misleading.
A strong federal ICAC should be established

It is totally undemocratic that big business has a bigger influence in political decisions than the general Australian public. Democracy should NOT be about who has the deepest pockets, and big business should NOT have a priveliged voice in decisions that affect all our futures
