Climate damage is here now yet billionaire polluters are lining up to dig and burn more coal. Coal corporation Adani want to dig one of the world’s biggest coal mines in Queensland.

But people don't want this mine. If the mine goes ahead it would create billions of tonnes of pollution, wreck our climate and spell the end for our Great Barrier Reef.

The Australian Conservation Foundation community challenged the federal government's approval of the mine in court. But our laws can’t stop the government from approving Australia’s biggest coal mine, even as the reef dies before our eyes.

Governments have a responsibility to create a future where our reef, communities and wildlife all thrive.

Federal Environment Minister, Melissa Price has the power to stop this mine. And our future depends on it. It's critical she hears from everyone who cares that we want our beautiful reef, not more polluting coal.

Sign the petition to tell the Federal Minister for Environment, Melissa Price to:

Reject Adani’s Carmichael coal mine and create strong new laws to protect our Great Barrier Reef.

Horrendous that the Australian Government puts $ and before the environment, so obviously just to stay in Government. It’s time they listened to the people. Mines come and go, the Barrier Reef won’t.

The Adani coal mine is a massive threat to our reef. Why would anyone allow this? Not only is coal a dying industry (and the risk of this project being a distressed asset is high) but Australia has many other coal deposits elsewhere that don’t endanger the reef. There should be no new coal mines approved in Australia for the good of our reef and for the good of our environment and our planet.

Destruction of the GBR is a disaster that must be prevented to protect the current tourist industry, to keep it for future generations and to save our taxpayers billions of dollars when the Indian mining giant dumps our government with a cleanup of impossible proportions! Budget funds set aside to ‘save the reef’ are a complete waste (and a green-wash farce) if the gov allows mining companies to damage the reef.

Selling off all our assets and also destroying our beautiful country through greed. Doesn’t make sense. They say the Great Barrier Reef is being destroyed by environmental factors and yet they allow things like coal mining to take place in the region. Sick, sick, sick.

Coal mining is a dying industry. Adani has an awful record of destroying the environment. Why, in heaven’s name, would any Australian government allow the destruction of the Great Barrier Reef for a dying, destructive operation? Please think of our future. Get out of the past and move forward to sustainable energy that does not destroy what we value most.
