Coles and Woolworths both claim they’re doing good things for our climate.
So why are these supermarkets both card-carrying members of one of Australia’s shadiest climate-wrecking lobby groups: the Business Council of Australia (BCA)? It just doesn't check out.
Over the past few decades the BCA has strategically undermined a long list of climate policies in Australia. As a result, climate pollution in this country is going up, not down like it must if we are to continue enjoying life on our beautiful planet.
By weakening the BCA’s membership, we can neutralise their influence over climate policy in Australia – and get back on track in building a future that’s good for everyone and every living thing.
Sign the open letter now asking Coles and Woolworths to leave the climate-wrecking BCA:
As customers, shareholders and employees of Coles and Woolworths, we call on the supermarket giants to leave the Business Council of Australia (BCA) – it continues to undermine climate policy in Australia and advocate for the weakening of environmental laws.
We are concerned about the climate crisis and want action.

Coles and Woolworths have a long way to go to get me back as a customer. Locally, chopping down trees to expand hot bitumen carparks, Making life difficult for local producers and suppliers. And being part of the BCA that undermines any efforts to protect our environment and halt climate change. Cheap prices will not bring me back.
Please represent your customers who are suffering under the current drought and fire regime caused by global warming.
We don’t support those not doing their utmost to act against climate change, so it’s time to leave the BCA!

I am doing my best to make sure that I and my family do not support any businesses that aren’t doing what they can for the climate. That includes business in the climate-wrecking lobby group – the Business Council of Australia.
Our family has been avoiding Coles and Woolies because of this.
You are so much better off without them holding you back
Dear Coles and Woolworths,
I’m very disappointed to see that you are still members of the BCA. This country needs business to advocate for strong action on climate change, which the BCA and many if its members are blocking. Without this, our farmers face ever growing challenges go feed this nation, which will compromise not only your business but food security in this nation. It’s high time to act on the science and ensure our kids have a future. Kind regards
