Coles and Woolworths both claim they’re doing good things for our climate.

So why are these supermarkets both card-carrying members of one of Australia’s shadiest climate-wrecking lobby groups: the Business Council of Australia (BCA)? It just doesn't check out.

Over the past few decades the BCA has strategically undermined a long list of climate policies in Australia. As a result, climate pollution in this country is going up, not down like it must if we are to continue enjoying life on our beautiful planet.

By weakening the BCA’s membership, we can neutralise their influence over climate policy in Australia – and get back on track in building a future that’s good for everyone and every living thing.

Sign the open letter now asking Coles and Woolworths to leave the climate-wrecking BCA:

As customers, shareholders and employees of Coles and Woolworths, we call on the supermarket giants to leave the Business Council of Australia (BCA) – it continues to undermine climate policy in Australia and advocate for the weakening of environmental laws.

We are concerned about the climate crisis and want action.

The Business Council of Australia has helped undermine policies to address climate change, making things worse for us. I worry about my grandchildren having any kind of good life. Please leave the BCA and help us.

Dear Mr Coles . . . if you’re with the BCA then you are showing you are not with the people. The BCA care more about money than the planet. We, the people, love and need this planet, the only one we have. Stop being in bed with the villains,

Woolworths and Coles need to consider their customers . Any organisation that contributes to climate change I will refuse to be a customer where there is an alternative!

I have been shopping at Coles for over 30 years but I will shop elsewhere as long as Coles is part of the Business Council of Australia. Talking about being environmentally conscious means nothing when you are supporting the coal lobby in secret.

Coles and Woolworths shame on you. By supporting the BCA, you support the continuation of global climate change (well, Coles you add to it by all of your plastic fripperies at the check outs.

I’ve been a longstanding Coles shopper but I am very concerned about Australian companies not caring for the future of Australian people. I want to see positive action on climate – not platitudes and fudged carbon emission figures. Oh, and Coles, stop peddling plastic with your marketing!
