Coles and Woolworths both claim they’re doing good things for our climate.
So why are these supermarkets both card-carrying members of one of Australia’s shadiest climate-wrecking lobby groups: the Business Council of Australia (BCA)? It just doesn't check out.
Over the past few decades the BCA has strategically undermined a long list of climate policies in Australia. As a result, climate pollution in this country is going up, not down like it must if we are to continue enjoying life on our beautiful planet.
By weakening the BCA’s membership, we can neutralise their influence over climate policy in Australia – and get back on track in building a future that’s good for everyone and every living thing.
Sign the open letter now asking Coles and Woolworths to leave the climate-wrecking BCA:
As customers, shareholders and employees of Coles and Woolworths, we call on the supermarket giants to leave the Business Council of Australia (BCA) – it continues to undermine climate policy in Australia and advocate for the weakening of environmental laws.
We are concerned about the climate crisis and want action.

The time is up! Now is the time to act on climate change. What further proof do you need following this summer’s devastating bush-fires that climate change is already upon us.
We should all be working towards a cleaner, greener future. Good luck lining your pockets when the country has burned to ashes. You should be ashamed of yourselves.
Do not be lead by those who seek to deceive and undermine the Australian people, form your own council if need be, and carve your own path into the future, show your competitors and better way, and consumers that you care
I have already significantly reduced my family’s shopping with Coles and Woolworths because I don’t believe your practices are sufficiently fair and sustainable. However, membership of BCA is a final straw. Withdraw from that organisation.
Leave the climate wrecking BCA
Honestly, by reading these open letters, you will see that its proof that being a member of the BCA is not serving you where your customers are concerned. Why not quit the BCA, improve your shop space with less plastic, treat the famers with the respect they deserve, entice your customers back through your doors by proving you’re just as concerned about the world as they are. It’s a win, win. Just do it! Without customers you have no business, it seems that how things will end up. It’s really not that hard to make the change is it?
