As bushfires rage across the country, the Queensland government is considering a secret deal with Adani that could mean the coal corporation pockets hundreds of millions of dollars of public money for its climate-wrecking mine.
Analysis by The Australia Institute shows Adani’s special coal royalty deal could be worth between $250 and $700 million dollars. The Palaszczuk Government has refused to reveal the terms of this shady arrangement, claiming it’s too confidential for us to know about.
Our elected representatives have a responsibility to create a future where our communities, reef and wildlife thrive, not prop up dirty coal.
Add your name to this open letter to send the Premier a clear message — no dirty royalty deal for Adani:
“Dear Premier,
During the last Queensland election you promised there would be no public money for Adani’s climate-wrecking coal mine.
If Adani’s mine goes ahead it would unleash billions of tonnes of pollution, at a time when we must rapidly phase out coal and take urgent action on the climate crisis.
We ask you to keep your election promise and not cut a special royalty deal with Adani.”

it’s time to ditch this mine. The majority ofAustralian people don’t want it and that’s who you work for. They have shown time and time again that they are incapable of being this mine off the ground without massive hand outs. It wasnt that long ago you said there would be no public money given to Adani. You need to keep your word or lose all credibility as a government and as a person.
Please for Australia’s and the earths future just STOP this mine from happening.
It is Australian water, our reef. Don’t let this water-guzzling poluting company into Queensland. It would be a monumental betrayal of Australia.
Where integrity and openness gone. I may be a labour supporter but you no longer can depend on my vote. You are all corrupt!!!
I have the option of Greens first, ALP second or then I could just vote Greens One only. Listen to the people on this. Any deal remotely like this is not in QLD’s best interests or for that matter the world’s. You know this!!! Please find a way out of this mess.
This utter disgrace has to stop. We dont want any more backhanded lies and promises broken. No more coal. No more dirty deals.
Really, really fed up with all this government secrecy. You don’t own the country….we all do, therefore we have every right to know what the hell’s going on. Love to know who the hell you people think you are……you’re a public servant and seem to forget that .
Stop using the carry over credits as your mechanism to meet our (already low) Paris targets. And stop using the excuse that we only contribute a small amount to world warming. How can we expect other countries to do their share if we wont.
Adani’s Carmichael coal mine is so wrong on so many levels
It should be shelved
Also fracking the country will have profound effects so don’t Frack Australia!
Shameful greed, our people are starving, homeless, abused etc etc , you give to adani a free ride and give to those in need almost 0 .
Transparency in government is all that prevents corruption. Shame on Qld Labour
Please stop the Adani mine completely. There should be NO NEW COAL MINES in Queensland or Australia. We need to leave the coal in the ground.
Unacceptable. It is within public interest since we live around that area. There seems to be no value of return for Queenslanders or Australia
All this support of foreign companies and not signing guarantee of supply is why we have a gas shortage on the east coast Anna.
Don’t put Queensland into debt. It is clear that the whole project is debt financed.
We are in the midst of tipping points of no return for the health of the planet.
The Queensland government must not subsidize climate destruction.
