As bushfires rage across the country, the Queensland government is considering a secret deal with Adani that could mean the coal corporation pockets hundreds of millions of dollars of public money for its climate-wrecking mine.

Analysis by The Australia Institute shows Adani’s special coal royalty deal could be worth between $250 and $700 million dollars. The Palaszczuk Government has refused to reveal the terms of this shady arrangement, claiming it’s too confidential for us to know about.

Our elected representatives have a responsibility to create a future where our communities, reef and wildlife thrive, not prop up dirty coal.
Add your name to this open letter to send the Premier a clear message — no dirty royalty deal for Adani:

“Dear Premier,

During the last Queensland election you promised there would be no public money for Adani’s climate-wrecking coal mine.

If Adani’s mine goes ahead it would unleash billions of tonnes of pollution, at a time when we must rapidly phase out coal and take urgent action on the climate crisis.

We ask you to keep your election promise and not cut a special royalty deal with Adani.”

Surely the fires we are experiencing are enough to make it clear that: we can’t afford the carbon emissions from the coal mined : nor can we let Adani use our precious water at this time of extreme drought.
What are you thinking? Shame shame on you.

Handshakes over this deal happened behind closed doors. The longterm damage is at our doorstep NOW. Ecocide is suicide.

There are so many employment opportunities in land regeneration and renewable energy with longterm positive effects.

ADANI and coal in general is doomed. Our ecosystems can be regenerated at this point and do not need to be doomed. ADANI is a death sentence in the short term and longterm.

Please care about the future of our children and our ecosystems that are threatened by a shortsighted doomed economy.

Power to nature, let’s not ignore that which keeps us alive for the sake of money. Our economy is out of balance and our atmosphere and water are paying the price. Earth homeostasis is breaking down.

You’re in a position to help now, by investing in renewables and downgrading coal.

Make the power of politics help our planet. Please take advantage of the political power you hold by stopping this criminal money focused behaviour to continue.

The decisions made by your government in favour of the progress of the Adani coal mine are beyond comprehension! Continually ignoring your constituents who elect and employ you and making deals which no doubt support your government’s success in the next election and line your pockets is why people all over the world are questioning democracy! Wake up, smell the smoke and make decisions which put you on the right side of history !

There are no words to describe my fury!
It is LUNACY to be creating another polluting coal mine. As our country is engulfed by infernos you want to throw more coal on the fires!!!???
Such greed is unsurpassed.
The idea that you and your government would support sucking the last drop of the earths blood while it it dying is beyond reprehensible and comprehension.

No public money to Adani, means just that. NO public money. Why should my money go to support a coal mine when Australia burns, coral bleaches, animals and plants lose their habitats, and firefighters are exhausted, and farmers are insecure about their water being used, AND scientists have questioned the effect on water levels and water health.
This opening up of Galilee basin really has to stop. If you leaders can’t see that, let’s get some who do.

No Adani Mine, don’t people realise there will be only a few jobs anyway if this goes ahead in this modern era! Put your votes into NEW TECHNOLOGY!

Doing business with Adani is bad business. Bad for the environment bad for water allocation bad for farmers bad for the state’s economic future. How about you stand up for the people who elected you Queenslands Australians.

Send adani packing …

Please think beyond short-term. Listen to so many of the younger generation and the majority of Australians. Be careful of our climate and our reef and be admired by future generations, not reviled. Please?

But you will also ruin The Great Artesian Basin. Water is life. Opening this mine is regression and death. If you want Jobs and growth you need to look into sectors our government is too greedy to consider such as Solar power. There is jobs and growth in solar power. Coal and fossil fules belong in the industrail age not the future. if it continues to be our future then our future is death not growth. So in summery Water is life. Coal is death. It is quite simple. If you choose to please your economic masters the people will understand where your true loyalties lie and that you have sold out life it self for your own greed and political gain.
