To our elected representatives,
We call on you to work together to get big money out of our political system and put people back in.
This means:
- Banning large donations to political parties and candidates.
- Increasing the transparency of political donations, including real time reporting of donations.
- Limiting expenditure at election times so corporations can’t use their oversized wallets to drown out our voices.
- Creating an independent watchdog to investigate and stamp out corruption.
- Stronger lobbying regulation and greater transparency so we know who’s meeting with our elected representatives and why.

A true democracy cannot exist without transparency. Political donations skew the democratic process and influence decision-making.
It’s no wonder citizens are cynical about politics when they learn, many months after an election, that corporations like fossil fuel companies have made enormous donations to political parties.
100% support this. Reform a corrupt system or our society will not survive except as an open-cut mine where the common people will not benefit.
Stop selling our democracy. BAN corporate donations to political parties and politicians ; limit the size of other donations and election expenditure and have real time reporting on donations

Transparency is sadly lacking in our politics nowadays. I used to be proud of the Australian Democratic system. Not any more. I feel the country is being run by big, moneyed individuals and corporations, with our politicians doing exactly what these people/ companies want. It is time for a deep-rooted change. A watchdog over our political system is badly needed.
