Lodge a missing creature alert with your Member of Parliament

Missing_Creature_Report__600px_web_Numbat.jpg

Numbats have stolen our hearts! These adorable marsupials sleep in hollow fallen logs or burrows and eat 20,000 termites a day with their long sticky tongues. They don’t drink water – termites keep them hydrated.

Numbat families used to live from Victoria to WA, but because of habitat destruction, foxes and cats, now they cling to existence in just two places in the wild.

Will you lodge a missing creature alert with your local Member of Parliament? Tell them we need strong national environment laws to protect the places and wildlife we love – and ask them to raise this with their party leader.

Fill out the webform with your name and why you care. We'll print your name and message on a special missing creature alert and post it to your local MP. If you prefer, you can print and post it yourself.

Biodiversity is one of the greatest gifts we have. Our world would not function without it and the loss of even one species has a negative impact on the ‘whole’. If these creatures are lost because of lack of proper stewardship and either politicians unwilling to make difficult or unwilling to make necessary decisions then all of us, including future generations, will suffer that loss.

Please help protect our numbats and all our wildlife by backing national parks and cutting back on the senseless clearing of our bush.

These animals are so important to Australia and the eco system. Animals are constantly put aside for human greed and it needs to end, these creatures deserve to live more than most of us. Have a heart and help these animals

The extinction rate in Australia is terrifying. We need stronger environmental laws

If we don’t protect our wildlife and environment, we will destroy it all. We seem to be very proficient at that.

I’m tired of developers degrading our environment. They have too much power over government officials. There needs to be a balance between devopment and helping to keep our environment. At present there is n balance and I’m ashamed that Australia has the worst environmental extinction rate in the world. As government you are responsible for this. Do something about it now.

Our native species need better protection of their habitats. Our governments need to step up and enforce laws that stop them becoming extinct.

You know you don’t have to be a genius to see we need to act now to protect these volatile creatures. It’s not rocket science. Do something ! Now!

These endearing creatures are disappearing fast because of the destruction of their habitat and their slaughter by feral cats. Developers need to be curtailed or our precious wildlife will not be around for our grandchildren.
Pam 2018-06-08 08:23:06 +1000
The current laws are failing to protect our unique and precious wildlife, with many species already lost and others on the brink. Urban sprawl is destroying the habitat of many, as is logging, land clearing for agriculture, mining etc. It’s time the law is strengthened, before further species losses occur.

Losing species is a disgrace to us as a fellow species. We need stricter environmental laws and to start hunting campaigns for pest species

Stop destroying natural resources and bringing to extinction this amazing sounding and beautiful creature. Or is quite handy that most Australians have never heard of them and will never see one? Already gone, who cares? This government only cares about filling its pockets with dirty mining dollars
