Lodge a missing creature alert with your Member of Parliament

Missing_Creature_Report__600px_LargetoothSawfish.jpg

Largetooth sawfish are some of the world’s rarest and most endangered fish.

They use their sensitive snouts to detect the heartbeats of their prey. Baby sawfish are called pups – they have special gel over their sharp saws to protect their mums while they’re being born!

But these prehistoric fish are tangled up in modern-day environmental damage, and now they’re critically endangered.

Will you lodge a missing creature alert with your local Member of Parliament? Tell them we need strong national environment laws to protect the places and wildlife we love – and ask them to raise this with their party leader.

Fill out the webform with your name and why you care. We'll print your name and message on a special missing creature alert and post it to your local MP. If you prefer, you can print and post it yourself.

These amazing Largetooth Sawfish are currently VULNERABLE. We don’t know how many are left! They are so rare and most importantly ENDANGERED. These prehistoric fish are constantly being tangled up in modern-day environmental damage. It is critical that you implement a strong national enviornment law to protect these beautiful creatures.

Australia has one of the world’s worst records for mammal extinction.
The Largetooth Sawfish (Priests iritis) are some of the world’s rarest and most endangered fish.
They move around floodplains, billabongs, creeks, rivers, estuaries and the ocean in Northern Australia. Their numbers are unknown. They grow up to 7.5 metres!
They are critically endangered by fishing and habitat loss from dams and mining.
Assuring sanctuary, best fishing practices, and long range habitat free of mining or land degradation is essential to the survival of these prehistoric fish.
This is in your court. You are the decision makers.
You decide whether a species is eradicated.

We all know the habitat loss is causing mass extinctions. I admire your live sheep export ban stance Susan, I think a strong position on land clearing and habitat preservation would be wonderful.

Australia has the worst record for species extinction in the world. Our country has been isolated for millions of years and the animals have evolved in isolation. They can never be replaced. This unique and unusual animal is highly adapted to its environment. It can never be replaced.
Please care enough to protect it and all our natural and unique heritage. And ACT.

Australia needs to change their attitude about conserving our wonderfully unique creatures.
