Lodge a missing creature alert with your Member of Parliament

Missing_Creature_Report__600px_LargetoothSawfish.jpg

Largetooth sawfish are some of the world’s rarest and most endangered fish.

They use their sensitive snouts to detect the heartbeats of their prey. Baby sawfish are called pups – they have special gel over their sharp saws to protect their mums while they’re being born!

But these prehistoric fish are tangled up in modern-day environmental damage, and now they’re critically endangered.

Will you lodge a missing creature alert with your local Member of Parliament? Tell them we need strong national environment laws to protect the places and wildlife we love – and ask them to raise this with their party leader.

Fill out the webform with your name and why you care. We'll print your name and message on a special missing creature alert and post it to your local MP. If you prefer, you can print and post it yourself.

Largetooth Sawfish looks like it can saw through the wood but in fact can’t even saw through a fishing net. Make sure that numbers don’t reach the point of no return.

Our Australian wildlife is amazing and we cannot risk ever losing one species of it.

Unique creatures in this world deserve unique protection, each and every one. Keep these creatures alive for our children to experience. Keep them alive for their own sake. Keep their habitats alive for them.

Please help these amazing creatures, it’s their world too.

This remarkable fish needs us to clean up our act. Protect the freshwater systems, estuaries and ocean waters that this Sawfish relies on to live and breed throughout its life-cycle. Please help.

Please protect these animals by not drilling for oil and gas in the oceans of Australia. We need a change to renewable energy not mining more fossil fuels!

I care because before too long our planet will end up looking like a scene from Mad Max. Desert with 1 little lizard wandering around and 1 tree in the distance.!!! What a world for our children’s children.
And it’s not that I don’t have faith in each generation to make a change but we have to start now to make a difference….. quickly, not slowly which is the pace we are trying to fix things. It needs to change quickly , we need to work quickly.
Please stand up for our world and all living things on it.
Thank you

It is unacceptable to be focused on short term gains when overwhelmingly informed of the long term expense and irreversible damage caused by lazy, unnecessary and/or redundant practices.

I ask to extend protection for this wonderful endangered fish. Protect its habitat!

We need to stop these creatures disapearing forever, so that our children can still experience them

Australia has one of the highest rates of extinction in the world, that’s pretty disgusting. People need to stop worrying about economic growth and start caring about what that and we are doing to the animals of this world, this is not just our planet.
tanya 2018-06-05 21:50:49 +1000
every one on this planet has it own purpose to be, we are not in any power to change it, so to allowed it distraction….unless we want to destroy our-self and planet Earth. Why don’t we rather help our- self?

I love all animals and it would be unfair to let species go extinct (especially native Australian species) when we can easily make a difference and prevent that from happening – Thankyou

Yeah, so we don’t eat that one so I suppose it can die.
Great work leaders. Just what I voted for.

Once these amazing creatures are gone they are gone for good. Extinction is real and it is forever. We will never be able to see these animals in the wild again. How sad that we could ever get to the point that these animals cease to exist. How sad that our environmental laws and policy didn’t do more to protect and preserve these animals and their habitat. What I would give to see Australia’s iconic thylacine alive in the wild! Perhaps our best example of failure to protect our flora and fauna. Please act, don’t let these animals disappear on your watch. Please lead with our future in mind and protect what is great about this country our natural environment and inhabitants. Please.

Dear Member For Parliament,
I am writing to you today in hopes of requesting your help on behalf of The Largetooth Sawfish and myself.
We Human’s as the dominant and and superior force of this world has a duty to take care of all of the lesser animals, flora and fauna under our care and make sure that our actions or in actions do not deprive our future generations of the strange and unique creatures of this land, especially of Australia where our diverse and unique sea, air and land animals roam of this planet .
It is our duty to take care of even the smallest most annoying critter such as a mosquito or bee, which is crucial to all living things for so many different reasons .
But how can we or more importantly people like yourself who are in a position of power not react to the distraction and deviation we as human beings are forcing on our world, our environment and the flora, fauna and sea creatures.
It is here we see The Largetooth Sawfish may be “MISSING IN ACTION”, but we truly know what Missing In Action means " Endangered, extinct or almost extinct.
Therefore I employ you to please step up to the plate and go to bat for this beautiful, unique, marvellous creature that is part of our Australian heritage.

Yours Sincerely,

Julie Pederick.

The large sawfish is another creature which is apparently at risk. What an amazing fish and definitely worthy of being protected. Take measures and create laws which protect their habitats & stop overfishing.
Please take action now – Liz Franklin

Please take action to stop our native species from disappearing at such an alarming rate!

The Largetooth Sawfish deserves to live a life free of negative human interaction. It disappoints me to think that so many of these creatures end up tangled in fishing nets in the Northern Territory. Please, these beautiful animals can’t help themselves. Stop the extinction before it’s too late.

Life in balance, even where it’s not easily seen. Please act
Kristelle 2018-06-05 21:04:55 +1000
Because I care about life, and I know all life is sacred and beautiful. If you have been trusted by Australia’s peoples then you must act and save this species. Otherwise, you’re no better than a murderer.
