Climate damage is here now yet billionaire polluters are lining up to dig and burn more coal. Coal corporation Adani want to dig one of the world’s biggest coal mines in Queensland.

But people don't want this mine. If the mine goes ahead it would create billions of tonnes of pollution, wreck our climate and spell the end for our Great Barrier Reef.

The Australian Conservation Foundation community challenged the federal government's approval of the mine in court. But our laws can’t stop the government from approving Australia’s biggest coal mine, even as the reef dies before our eyes.

Governments have a responsibility to create a future where our reef, communities and wildlife all thrive.

Federal Environment Minister, Melissa Price has the power to stop this mine. And our future depends on it. It's critical she hears from everyone who cares that we want our beautiful reef, not more polluting coal.

Sign the petition to tell the Federal Minister for Environment, Melissa Price to:

Reject Adani’s Carmichael coal mine and create strong new laws to protect our Great Barrier Reef.

Short-term greed always leads to bad long-term outcomes. Hopefully someone in power will start thinking about the next couple of hundred years soon! Mars won’t be ready to inhabit in time at the rate we are destroying the earth!

The choice is clear. Our future or short-term, maybe, gains in a small nunber of jobs.Export of coal is rapidly decreasing. Our Planet Earth, the only one, is rapidly heating up. Really, there is no choice. Greed won’t sustain the World population for long. Jobs – false estimates, totally ignoring technological advances, eg, driverless trucks and robotics. Adani admitted to vastly overstating the jobs that would eventuate. Environmentally, if we don’t recognise the dire consequences, not only humanity, but all life on Earth is doomed to fail.

Changes need to be made and this coal mine should not be allowed to go ahead.

Coal is NOT the way forward.
This decision shows a complete lack of care for future generations and is an uneducated and destructive act.

Our Great Barrier Reef is a true asset to this country.
The track record from Adani is appalling and with that in the forefront of our minds they should not be allowed into Australia and especially near our reef!

I am from Canada. The Great Barrier Reef belongs to the people of the world. Not just one country. One government. One mining company. Please have vision. And demonstrate leadership for the present and the future.

Surely as the new Environmental Minister, Josh Frydenberg can influence this most stupid decision. Australia does not need to be seen as the pariah of the modern world, going ahead with this uneconomic, dirty, destructive mine with massive impact on climate change and the health of our reef

Stop coal mining. It’s ruining our planet and we only have one. No point in being the richest man in the cemetery.
