Climate damage is here now yet billionaire polluters are lining up to dig and burn more coal. Coal corporation Adani want to dig one of the world’s biggest coal mines in Queensland.

But people don't want this mine. If the mine goes ahead it would create billions of tonnes of pollution, wreck our climate and spell the end for our Great Barrier Reef.

The Australian Conservation Foundation community challenged the federal government's approval of the mine in court. But our laws can’t stop the government from approving Australia’s biggest coal mine, even as the reef dies before our eyes.

Governments have a responsibility to create a future where our reef, communities and wildlife all thrive.

Federal Environment Minister, Melissa Price has the power to stop this mine. And our future depends on it. It's critical she hears from everyone who cares that we want our beautiful reef, not more polluting coal.

Sign the petition to tell the Federal Minister for Environment, Melissa Price to:

Reject Adani’s Carmichael coal mine and create strong new laws to protect our Great Barrier Reef.

Protect the Great Barrier Reef. Invest in renewable energy, not coal mines. Show some leadership on this.

Today’s leaders need to think in the long term, more than ever before. Approving the coal mine in Qld. is short term thinking, driven by concern for profit and shareholders. You were elected by the people of this nation and have now been given responsibility to be the steward of the environment on their behalf. Shame on you for neglecting your duties so early on in your term. How can we trust you to do your duty on behalf of the citizens of this country when you are ignoring their very outspoken and obvious desires. Take pride in your job, take up the responsibility that has been given you and make firm decisions for the future generations of citizens of Australia and all those around the world who look to us to protect the Great Barrier Reef.

This must not be allowed to happen. It is nothing short of criminal, stealing treasure from present and future generations.

I am so angry! Josh, change the laws…don’t say you cant. Don’t put your personal interests in career and party politics ahead of science, ahead of international concern and condemnation of the LIBS disgraceful ineptness and ultimately most importantly ahead of the reef itself. Your legacy mate – cut the BS – dont play shiny faced nice guy and shaft the reef…the current laws must be amended. Are you going to be the one who sets the precedent for opening the door to others massive polluters also. It was a disgrace the Libs let this happen. Not in my name Josh. Do an about face Josh. You can do it…if you and your party are strong enough. If you hate whats happening, say so. Simple. Man up Josh. Take a stand for what is right and earn some respect.

Once again government has backed the interests of big business over that of the environment. If we don’t make out voices heard, they keep going down this destructive path in OUR name. Lobby your MPs, share the petition and make the voices of citizens heard – we stand for the environment and the Great Barrier Reef is worth protecting!
