To our elected representatives,
We call on you to work together to get big money out of our political system and put people back in.
This means:
- Banning large donations to political parties and candidates.
- Increasing the transparency of political donations, including real time reporting of donations.
- Limiting expenditure at election times so corporations can’t use their oversized wallets to drown out our voices.
- Creating an independent watchdog to investigate and stamp out corruption.
- Stronger lobbying regulation and greater transparency so we know who’s meeting with our elected representatives and why.

We cannot say we live in a true democracy when votes are bought which basically what happens when big businesses make huge secret donations. It is farcical these donations are secret until after an election.
In the supermarket of politics, money buys shelf space. I would like to know who is behind the product I’m considering. Transparency please, money out of politics.
Donations to political parties influence the outcome of elections and should be made transparent to promote honesty and accountability in government. We are a democracy after all and not an oligarchy.
