Since the 2019/20 Black Summer bushfires, our governments have handed over $50 billion in public money to support the fossil fuel industry. Dirty coal and gas polluters make mega profits while everyday Australians pick up the bill from climate disasters – from lives lost to holidays cancelled to spiralling insurance, grocery and energy bill costs.

I want Australia to end the production of oil and gas because I want the planet to survive and ecosystems to function without destruction.
We need Australia to take urgent action to eliminate coal and gas production and usage and to address climate change and its impacts with a robust, coordinated effort and sound policy portfolio. The business community wants it, the community wants it, but successive governments have failed to deliver.
Unchecked, climate change poses massive environmental, economic, public health and security threats to countries worldwide, including Australia.
I worked closely with Australia’s Business Roundtable on Climate Change back in 2004, when the CSIRO was commissioned to model the impacts of climate change on Australia’s economy, and it was catastrophic, but ignored by subsequent governments, including our government today. What a weak and disappointing mob they have all been, and the evidence of their failure is the spiralling risk of bushfire, floods and wind storms, and their catastrophic impacts on wild and human life. The cost of household insurance has spiralled to the point that many people can no longer afford it, and yet our governments do nothing. Please, stop logging our forests and for goodness sake stop burning and mining coal and gas.
We need to protect our planet and all the wild life in our care! This in turn will save us!

Action on climate change is urgent and way overdue
Australia needs to end digging up and burning fossil fuels, because we desperately need a viable future. Regional Australians especially are suffering in these increasingly volatile climatic conditions. Our sustainable future hangs in the balance. My insurance has doubled. Insurance companies are fully aware of the effects of climate change. It is time that politicians too, accept the truth and legislate accordingly.
