Climate damage is here now yet billionaire polluters are lining up to dig and burn more coal. Coal corporation Adani want to dig one of the world’s biggest coal mines in Queensland.

But people don't want this mine. If the mine goes ahead it would create billions of tonnes of pollution, wreck our climate and spell the end for our Great Barrier Reef.

The Australian Conservation Foundation community challenged the federal government's approval of the mine in court. But our laws can’t stop the government from approving Australia’s biggest coal mine, even as the reef dies before our eyes.

Governments have a responsibility to create a future where our reef, communities and wildlife all thrive.

Federal Environment Minister, Melissa Price has the power to stop this mine. And our future depends on it. It's critical she hears from everyone who cares that we want our beautiful reef, not more polluting coal.

Sign the petition to tell the Federal Minister for Environment, Melissa Price to:

Reject Adani’s Carmichael coal mine and create strong new laws to protect our Great Barrier Reef.

I am horrified that this action is even considered. I have never been to the Great Barrier reef, and as a young person studying, I don’t have the time or money at the moment to visit it while it is still semi-in-tact. I fear that actions like this will compound upon the effects of climate change (of which this government is not addressing sufficiently) and mean that by the time I have the capacity to see this amazing area, it will be too severely degraded to call a national treasure. This also of course means that my future children, and their children also will never see it because of the current government’s severe short-sightedness and focus on short term economic gain. This of course will also destroy the thriving tourist industry which is a much longer term and more significant source of economic growth than any mineral mining can provide into the future. Please stop this for my generation and those to come.

We need the ability to charge our federal and state decision makers with environmental vandalism of the tallest order!

Please do something to save our Reef, this LNP Government has no interest in making stronger legislation to ensure the Reef does not die. Save it for future geberations

It is disgusting how hard the Australian government works to protect coal but does the bare minimum to protect a living reef that brings in massive money for local Aussie economies, not for off-shore owner and investors.
Shame, shame, shame.
