Climate damage is here now yet billionaire polluters are lining up to dig and burn more coal. Coal corporation Adani want to dig one of the world’s biggest coal mines in Queensland.

But people don't want this mine. If the mine goes ahead it would create billions of tonnes of pollution, wreck our climate and spell the end for our Great Barrier Reef.

The Australian Conservation Foundation community challenged the federal government's approval of the mine in court. But our laws can’t stop the government from approving Australia’s biggest coal mine, even as the reef dies before our eyes.

Governments have a responsibility to create a future where our reef, communities and wildlife all thrive.

Federal Environment Minister, Melissa Price has the power to stop this mine. And our future depends on it. It's critical she hears from everyone who cares that we want our beautiful reef, not more polluting coal.

Sign the petition to tell the Federal Minister for Environment, Melissa Price to:

Reject Adani’s Carmichael coal mine and create strong new laws to protect our Great Barrier Reef.

Do we really need another coal mine.

Coal is not our future, the millions of dollars being invested in this project could be used to boost the tourism industry on the reef or grow the renewable energy sector.

No Reef – no economy for millions of Queenslanders. There is no safe way to have a mine here. No safe way. Minister Frydenberg do you want to go down for all posterity as the Minister responsible for delivering the final blow to one of the wonders of this planet and who destroyed the tourist economy of Queensland for some irresponsible Indian Company in exchange for a few thousand short term jobs? I hope not, because your legacy could be so much better for all Australians and you could go down in history as a great man not someone who sold Australia out to a dying industry. I know, if you put it to a plebecide, you would find that the majority of Australians do not want this mine nor to have the reef further at risk. Your government got in by the skin of your teeth last election because Australians are sick of you not listening to them and only listening to mining companies and big business – you won’t get a second chance. Australians want a long term future in renewables not coal. Be forward thinking. The time for coal is over and the time for renewables and clean energy is here. Reject the mine and protect the future of the Great Barrier Reef

Truly madness – we are the custodians of the Great Barrier Reef for future generations and history will judge us badly for destroying the resilience of the reef.
