Woodside is among Australia’s largest polluting gas companies. Its plans to build the Scarborough Gas Project and Pluto extension would generate emissions over its lifetime equal to ten years of running all of the country’s coal-fired power stations combined!
No matter where it is burnt, the gas Woodside digs up is fuelling climate damage and destroying Australia’s precious places like the Great Barrier and Ningaloo Reefs, compromising the wishes of Traditional Owners and putting people’s health at risk.
How do they get away with it? Woodside, and other big polluters, are sponsoring and exploiting our favourite sports to buy a positive reputation.
When Woodside plasters its logo across the purple hearts of Fremantle Dockers players, it’s paying for the connection and loyalty we feel for sports, and marketing themselves as a community-oriented brand – all so that Woodside can keep polluting.
We need to stop Woodside from using sports sponsorships to wash away their dirty image. That’s why, we're calling on people, no matter what footy jumper you wear or if you don’t support any team, to sign this petition:
Our teams are not for sale. We urge the Board of Fremantle FC to immediately end its sponsorship deal with Woodside Energy to protect the people, places, and game we love.

I don’t think it’s a good idea to be involved to woodside. It reflects poorly on your club.

Now is the time for sports teams to clean up their sponsorships. I understand the Fremantle Dockers are considering scrapping Woodside, one of Australia’s great polluters, from their sponsors. That would be appreciated by many of their supporters and hopefully you will find a replacement company with good environmental credentials. Best wishes in this season.
Fossil fuels are much more dangerous to the planet than tobacco or alcohol. For the sake of the future and the lives of our children give Woodside the Boot.
I encourage the Board to take the step towards developing more thoughtful meaningful Community partnerships and ditch advertising for Woodside in any form especially branding on football shirts that are so much a part of the real sporting community. Ethical sponsorship is the only response acceptable for sporting clubs.
GET OUT OF FOSSIL FUELS AND DIRTY SITES
Please don’t help lend an air of respectability to these looters and polluters. Their only priority is profit.
If you really want to support your players and fans, give them a clean, cool planet that supports the playing of footy into the future. Drop Woodside’s funding and send them a message that significantly increasing CO2 emissions is NOT on!
