To the Queensland government,

From droughts to bushfires, Queenslanders are living with the impacts of climate damage here and now.

Queensland can be a leader in clean energy. We could be powering our homes, our towns and our economy with good energy and new jobs, powered by the wind and the sun.

If Queenslanders own our clean energy, we can create thousands of jobs we can be proud of and bring down power prices.

We are calling on you to make public investment in big renewable projects a priority, and act now to:

  1. Get on with climate action: set stronger pollution reduction targets, and rapidly replace coal-fired power with clean energy
  2. Build publicly-owned renewables, starting construction of at least one large project by mid-2020
  3. Plan and fund a fair transition for workers in the energy sector

Let's get on with it!

What were you thinking when you cancelled the Wangan and Jagalingou Peoples native title so Adani could dig one of the biggest coal mines in the world? Qld Labor have no credibility when it comes to tackling climate change. You simply aid & abet environmental vandalism.

I’ll never forget the video of our premier shaking hands with Adani over the table giving him the go ahead to make plans for his mine. I have nightmares about it. What was she thinking. Economy? Jobs, jobs, jobs. Neither makes sense. Economy will fail without a good environment and the jobs numbers are over inflated and minimal comparatively. Not good enough now we have to fix that mistake. Will not vote for Labor until they do. Greens and any independents come first until we are rid of coal and on the right track.

This from The Australian newspaper 3/2/2020: “Power prices are tipped to return to high levels later this decade as renewables spending slows due to the lack of a national policy.” Our State governments are leading on clean energy while our national government is letting our nation down. Please Qld government, continue the good work you’ve started, show your leadership and ambition and move us faster to clean energy. We could be world leaders and exporters of clean energy.
