 Sunday 4th February 8 - 11 am

Join us for a VERY special FREE World Wetlands Day event happening on the shores of our internationally recognised and significant Moreton Bay Marine Park.

There will be incredible interactive art activities for you to take part in with your family and friends that will both be fun AND have an impact. We will also have food, lve music from local musicians, stalls, wonderful speakers and plenty more...

This is a family friendly event so bring your friends and loved ones along.

The Theme for this year's WWD event is Wetlands and Human Well Being

Many of us are aware that the proposed construction of Toondah Harbour by Australia's largest and wealthiest developer, will destroy over 40 hectares of the RAMSAR site and decimate the homes of several critically endangered animals - pushing them closer to extinction.

BUT did you know that human well being is also irrevocably tied to the state of the world's wetlands?  We are dependent on these life sustaining ecosystems, like our wetlands in Moreton Bay and Toondah Harbour. We NEED to protect our wetlands which provide us with water, support biodiversity, provide livelihoods, protect against extreme weather events, and mitigate against climate change.

Did you know that our Toondah & Moreton Bay wetlands assist in buffering against coastal erosion, storm surges and flooding, which helps build resilience to flood and cyclone events?  At a time when Queenslanders are facing catastrophic weather conditions and events, protecting our wetlands is critical to our well being and futures.

So please join us to celebrate this special and critical World Wetlands Day, and let's all raise our voices to let Tanya Plibersek know that we want her to say NO to this nature wrecking and irresponsible construction project!

A sneak peek at one of our amazing art activities: a giant 60 metre long map shows the journey our migratory shorebirds make around the world before reaching their habitat in Toondah. There will be thousands of beautiful cut out curlews, which many of you will paint, to place on the map!

For live updates on the day, please follow our facebook event page.

We can't wait to see you there!
