Right now there is a plan to ship up to one-third of the world’s high-level radioactive waste and bury it in South Australia.
This plan would impact Australians for the next 300,000 years.
It would enable aging nuclear reactors around the world – now under pressure to close because of their intractable waste problems – to stay open for another decade – more risk and more waste.
Let’s tell South Australian Premier Weatherill not to open Australia’s door to the world’s dirty and dangerous radioactive waste. We should not prop up this declining industry for a few more years and impose its waste on generations of our children to come.
Muckaty Traditional Owners united against a plan to dump radioactive waste on their country, and won.
There’s an organised campaign for an international waste dump in Australia, an expensive “consultation” and social media campaign which presents the plan as if it’s a done deal. We need to counter this push.
The future for Australia – and the world’s – energy needs is renewable, not radioactive. Energy from the sun, wind, and waves is abundant and will never run out. It doesn’t pollute the air we breathe or the water we drink. Nuclear energy is dirty, dangerous, expensive and belongs in the past.
After seven decades of commercial nuclear power operations, not one nation has a final disposal site for high level waste and the sector is strewn with failed projects, timeline delays and massive cost overruns.
The global nuclear power sector is dying out due to public opposition, extreme costs and the rise of renewable energy.
Nuclear waste is like zombie waste – it remains undead.
Will you sign our petition to send a strong message so Premier Weatherill knows Australians don’t support South Australia storing radioactive waste from all around the world?
Together, we can ensure that South Australia’s future is bright, not glowing.

Will the government please respect a traditional owners point of view we belong to this great land we are responsible for looking after our land that cant be replaced for premier to think he or she has the right to treat it as a dump for the most toxic waste in existence is so outrageous there needs to be a law passed to prevent a national disaster from happening now one person or any government has the right to do so the waste we are talking about takes millions of years to be safe answer is a easy no the country or countries who produce this waste need not be so rude to expect australia to be there dump

Don’t do it Mr Weatherill. No matter how broke your band of members are – it would be corporate prostitution. We are already a laughing stock for the insane take up of HUGELY expensive wind turbines, which do the exact opposite of saving Co2!
Please dont ruin our beautiful state for our children and future generations. Stop thinking about the money and use your brain!
It’s obvious that these Governments both Liberal and Labor are corrupted basteds who only interested in the Multinationals controlling our money like the bloody Rothchilds Murdocks and Packers there all greedy scum there all the ones you need to put in place Vote for a whole new government made up of ordinary genuine people like it was in the old days that’s the only answer to this mess
Bigger off jay w you all stuffed up s.a
Nuclear waste is dangerous to transport and store. Keep our state nuclear free!
What sort of dickheads do we have running this country? Honestly ……how can anyone with even half a brain think that this is a good idea!
do not do it, plain and simple!!!!
If there is no safe way to dispose of something, it shouldn’t be created in the first place.
Absolutely NO to dumping nuclear waste anywhere. But lets not kid ourselves that Australia is pure and healthy. This is a continent that has been drastically degraded by the mining, forestry and agriculture industries. And we continue to do so.
Create a better solution! One that does not affect Mother Earth.
Australia is a thriving healthy country, not a garbage dump..Let alone nucleur dumping, for other countries. O mighty dollar wont save us from any problems. Who will help us then??
