Our national environment laws are supposed to protect the places and wildlife we love.

But the once-in-a-decade review of those laws has found that nature in Australia is in big trouble. Australia has one of the worst extinction records on Earth, and even our most iconic wildlife like the koala and platypus are at risk in some states.

The independent reviewer, Professor Graeme Samuel, recommends a complete overhaul of our national environment laws to protect our country’s unique places, plants, animals and ecosystems for future generations.

Australia has one of the worst extinction records on Earth. It's time for laws that actually protect nature, and an independent regulator to enforce them.

We have the highest mammal extinction rate in the world, to stop this happening we have to protect our environment with strong effective laws.

This is the only planet we have. Nature is vital for our survival and humans are destroying plants and animals at an unprecedented pace. Please protect plants and animals as they are wonderful in their own right but also essential for our survival

So sad to see the majority of farmers not farming sustainability on the land. That’s definitely not their fault! They need so much more support financially and also to be educated in a way that they can help.
People from the cities/suburbs need to educate themselves so much more on the environment, wildlife and where their food comes from. The majority of Australia’s population comes from suburbs and cities and the majority of those people have no clue what’s going on around them in the country. Rural towns are trying so hard to make a difference but with small populations and not a lot of financial support it is extremely hard to do so!
