Our national environment laws are supposed to protect the air we breathe, the water we drink, and the places and wildlife we love.

But the once-in-a-decade review of our environment law has found that nature in Australia is in trouble. And our government’s response to this review – including the laws it creates or changes as a result – will impact our precious wildlife and ecosystems for years to come.

Last year, the Morrison Government tried to push through changes to our laws that would make them even weaker. They will try again.

Our Senators are the last line of defence against any damaging legislation that would further weaken our environment laws.

Email your Senators and ask them to speak up for environment laws that actually protect nature, and an independent regulator to enforce them.

Email tips

  • Make your letter personal – tell them who you are, the state and suburb you live in, and why you care about protecting nature.
  • Include a specific call-to-action – ask them to speak up for laws that actually protect nature, and an independent regulator to enforce them.
  • Be concise, clear and polite.
