Australians love our country's unique creatures, and the places that they call home. But nature in Australia is in trouble. 2,000 Australian plants and animals are on the threatened species list, and the list is growing. We need strong new laws that actually protect nature.

Communities across Australia are coming together to send a clear message to politicians: communities nationwide love Australian creatures and we want strong action to save them from extinction.

Join us for a gentle family hike at Boondall Wetlands. 🌳🌳🌳 We'll have our two-year-old with us 😊
  • The mostly shaded walk itself is an easy, stroller accessible 2km return trail.
  • We'll meet at the entrance to the Environment Centre.
  • Afterwards, stick around for morning tea and a chat. ☺️☕🍪
  • We'll bring tea and coffee supplies - please bring a small plate of food to share.

At this event led by Brisbane Parents Who Like to Hike volunteers we will:

  • Do a guided walk through the Boondall Wetlands, looking for wildlife (9am to 10am), then
  • Paint, draw and write on the Community for Creatures banner, which will be delivered to our Member of Parliament (MP) – see a mock-up of the banner below! – and write personalised messages to be delivered to our MP about why we want nature protected.

This is a family-friendly event, and we'll have art activities for children to participate in.

We want to make our hikes welcoming and inclusive for all carers. Here’s what to expect.

All carers are welcome
We welcome all mums, dads, partners, step-parents, foster parents, carers and friends.

No family left behind
We know hiking with children can bring unique challenges. If you need to stop to change a nappy or to feed, no worries. We’ll stop and take a break.

Welcome circle introductions
Our hikes begin with a Welcome Circle, where we introduce ourselves and our families and set the intention for our time together.

Sign up using the form on this page so we know how many people to expect.

Interested but can't make the time? Register here and we’ll let you know about future events like this.

Looking forward to seeing you there!!
