Australians love our country's unique creatures, and the places that they call home. But nature in Australia is in trouble. 2,000 Australian plants and animals are on the threatened species list, and the list is growing. We need strong new laws that actually protect nature.

Communities across Australia are coming together from Monday 30 October to Sunday 5 November 2023 to send a clear message to politicians: communities nationwide love Australian creatures and we want strong action to save them from extinction.

This will be organised by 3 groups of primary school kids aged 7-12, and they are inviting the wider community to join them as they gather to speak up for nature.

At this event we will:

  • Connect with others who care about nature.
  • Have a picnic – please bring a plate of food to share if you can.
  • Paint, draw and write on the Community for Creatures banner, which will be delivered to our Member of Parliament (MP) Josh Burns – see a mock-up of the banner below!
  • Co-create a book that shares a little bit of information about every child's favourite Australian animal and why they want the government to protect them.
