WA's environment watchdog is asking the public to weigh in on Woodside's proposal to drill the Browse basin around Scott Reef off the Pilbara Coast.

This public consultation could heavily influence the WA Government's final decision. So, it's critical that we raise our voices now to protect the marine life that call Scott Reef home, First Nations cultural heritage and our climate.

Woodside needs gas from Scott Reef to keep its North West Shelf gas plant running beyond 2030. Stopping this project would deal Woodside gas a serious blow!

Add your name to ACF's submission calling for a rejection before the 10 June deadline.

Every signature strengthens our case and shows that Australians don't want Woodside's destructive gas project to go ahead.

ACF's submission will highlight the unacceptable risks, including:

  • Habitat destruction: Subsidence (sinking!) of Scott Reef and Sandy Islet, a critical nesting site for endangered green sea turtle.
  • Oil spills: Spills can affect up to 39 endangered species that call Scott Reef home including the pygmy blue whale and dusky sea snake.
  • Cultural heritage destruction: Pollution from the North West Shelf gas plant (that would process gas drilled at Scott Reef) would damage 50,000-year old Murujuga rock art.
  • Increased climate pollution: Drilling Scott Reef is a major part of Woodside's Burrup Hub - Australia's biggest climate bomb - that would over its lifetime generate 13x Australia's annual climate pollution.
