We champion big, bold solutions for big impact because nature is in crisis and needs us, now.

We use evidence-based advocacy, courage, creativity and common sense to fight for nature’s right to thrive.

We work together with First Nations People who have cared for Country since time immemorial.

We advocate without fear; we expose corruption and destruction and create real solutions for a better future.

We champion our trees, communities, reefs and wildlife.

We show up, speak out and act.

This decade, Nature’s Champions will play a vital role in the fight to turn our climate and extinction crises around.

This is what your support enables us to achieve:

60 Years of Impact

From a handful of people taking a stand to protect the Great Barrier Reef 60 years ago, to over half a million nature lovers today, the ACF community has been involved in nearly every significant environmental win in Australia.

60 years is barely a blip in a rich 60,000-year history, but in that time, we have fought for our beautiful big backyard in the halls of parliament and town hall meetings, in newsrooms and boardrooms, against huge corporations and broken systems.

We’ve protected special places:

  • From the Kimberley to Kakadu National Park and World Heritage listed Ningaloo Reef, to the Franklin River, Toondah Harbour and Antarctica
  • We helped win World Heritage listing for Tasmania’s ancient forests and the Great Barrier Reef
  • We helped return over 600,000 hectares of traditional lands to the Olkola people and 100,000 hectares to the Wuthathi people and created the Wuthathi (Shelburne Bay) National Park

We’ve stopped nature wreckers:

  • We stood with Traditional Owners to put an end to uranium mining in Kakadu and stop toxic waste dumps in the Northern Territory and South Australia
  • We litigated against new coal and gas projects, slashed fossil fuel subsidies and removed the social license for coal in Australia

We’ve created solutions:

  • We seeded the ideas that became Landcare and the Clean Energy Finance Corporation
  • We put water back into the rivers that nourish the Murray-Darling Basin
  • We advocated for the Climate Change Bill 2022, the first legislation to lock in Australia's greenhouse gas emissions reduction targets of 43% by 2030 and net zero by 2050
  • We helped create new laws to cut emissions, boost renewables and shift to clean exports like green metals to replace coal and gas.

We build strategic alliances, work closely with and amplify First Nations groups, and empower everyday Australians to stand up for our living world.

Everything we do is thanks to our generous donors who make this vital work possible

That’s why passionate, committed and generous people – Nature’s Champions – matter more than ever.

With your help, by 2030 we will:

  • End extinction

  • Stop bulldozing the bush

  • Halt and reverse native habitat loss

  • Replace 80% of coal, gas and uranium exports with renewables

  • Ensure investors and food companies are coal, gas and deforestation-free

  • Continue to work alongside First Nations People to amplify their voices and prioritise care for Country

Our goal is an Australia where nature and people thrive.
